World’s best head to Luhmühlen

The world’s best riders head the entries list the for this year’s CCI**** at Luhmühlen.

Britain’s line-up is led by Kristina Cook, Nicola Wilson and Pippa Funnell, with Sarah Bullimore, Izzy Taylor and Kitty King amongst the strong contingent entered. Eventing Worldwide vlogger Alice Dunsdon has also entered Cool Investment

Badminton Champion Jonelle Price is also in the line-up with Faerie Dianimo as his is her husband Tim Price with Xavier Faer. Riders from Australia, including Shane Rose with CP Qualified, Belgium, Canada, Equador, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and the US will be fighting to be crowned champion.

A number who withdrew from the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials or had problems during the cross country have re-routed including Will Coleman, Jonty Evans, James O’Haire, Michael Ryan, Danielle Dunn, Harry Dzenis, Laura Collett, Serena Mcgregor and Izzy Taylor.

Whilst a small number German riders have entered the CCI****, many have opted instead to compete in the CIC*** Meßmer Trophy, including Sandra Auffarth and Ingrid Klimke.

German Team Trainer Hans Melzer explained the decision saying: “Some of our top riders are going to compete in the three-star, as they have already achieved their qualification for the World Equestrian Games and now want to give their horses a motivational round on their way to the championship. Since Luhmühlen is going to host the European Championships next year, Germany is allowed to enter twelve riders. Therefore, a large number of riders want to get a feel for the course and the atmosphere. Also, there are a number of young riders who are already competing at three-star level and are now looking to establish themselves to become part of the national team.”

Current World Champion Sandra Auffarth has two horses in the CIC***. She commented: “I’m really looking forward to competing Daytona Beach and Viamant du Matz in the three-star. Luhmühlen’s cross-country-courses are usually very motivating because they ride so well and the ground is superb which is ideal for younger or less experienced horses as it gives them a chance to grow and gain confidence.”

European Champion Ingrid Klimke will compete Horseware Hale Bob in the CIC*** and she said: “Luhmühlen holds a special place in my eventing calendar. It provides perfect conditions for horses and riders. I’m really looking forward to taking Bobby round Luhmühlen again.”
