Wow what an awesome past month I’ve had!!
All the horses have been performing very well and I’m very lucky to have had some great results.

Fozzle was fantastic at both Somerly OI and Weston Park OIu21 finishing runner up in both hotly contested classes… he’s been so consistent with his results, I’m super lucky to be riding him for Zara Porterhill and Michelle Clough. He is aiming for Houghton CCI** Young Rider National Champs and then him and Zara will hopefully be in contention for selection for the Young Rider European Champs – everything crossed! AQ9Y7420

Burnham Market was the first big international competition of the year and I had Brook competing in the CIC***, and Zara and Charlie competing in their first Advanced. Brook was such a good boy – he did a pretty excitable test which was annoying, but to be fair it was practically in the middle of a hurricane, plus he followed it up with an awesome double clear… so he was let off!!! Charlie and Zara were both really impressive in their Advanced debut… I took them steady around the cross county, but were both very smooth and confident around their biggest track yet… so it was fantastic feeling them really stepping up to the mark.

We then had Belton Park where Brook was competing in the CIC*** Grantham Cup – he again was a little jolly in his test (he’s just soo happy at the moment!!! – but needs to learn to control himself haha!) but jumped fantastically around the big CIC*** cross country which I was over the moon with. We know he’s capable of doing a very smart test, so it’s great to have some good consistent cross country rounds under our belt – hopefully luck will be on our side soon and it’ll all come together at Chatsworth CIC***!! I also had Zara, Charlie & Dre in the OIu21… they all put in good performances but Zara was the star of the show finishing 3rd in the Young Rider Trial!

AQ9Y7297Withington Manor was then my latest event where I was competing in the 4th Young Rider Trial of the season. I took Brook, Zara, Charlie and Fozzle and they were all fantastic finishing 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th!! Over the moon.

They have then all had a slightly quieter week whilst I zoomed up to Badminton to help Mum and catch up with sponsors. It was an incredible week as always, delivering the best competition our sport provides. Mum and Tess did a beautiful test but unfortunately Tess was lame in a hind hoof the morning of the cross country – SUCH a shame. But luckily it is nothing serious and she should be back out competing soon. Horses are for sure the worlds greatest leveller!! William went on to perform outstanding xc & sj rounds which rightfully clinched him the title on the incredible Chilli Morning. We were all absolutely over the moon for him and he’s a great friend and couldn’t be a more worthy winner. We have two homebred 5 year olds by Chilli and out of Tess, and one yearling – so fingers crossed they’ll be duplicating his success!!!!

I head off to Aston Le Walls on Wednesday with Foz, Charlie & Dre in the OIu21 and then Chatsworth International Fri – Sun where Brook and Zara are competing in the CIC***… so everything crossed!!

Em xx
