Incorporating the Festival of Youth
Thursday 8th – Sunday, 11th October
Weston goes from Strength to Strength – Four exciting days of International competition:
Weston Park, the 17th century ancestral home of the Earls of Bradford, again hosts the International Three Day Event which has attracted over 200 entries and incorporates the hugely competitive Festival of Youth – an end of season celebration of eventing for riders aged 21 and under.
Internationally renowned course designer and Joint Organiser Janet Plant has once again designed the superbly constructed cross country course, which includes several new challenges and runs over the beautiful rolling wooded parkland. The fences are solid and inviting in the true Weston Park style and each class will run over a different course including the exciting water complex – this fence is sponsored by one of our Founder Sponsors’ Berriman Eaton’ who have been fantastic supporters to the Spring and Autumn Events for the past 33 years!
Key Event Developments
Many of the new developments made in 2014 will be making a re-appearance ‘Janet Plant commented ‘ the new bar area was really popular and everyone appreciated being able to book a meal in our heated dining area – so much so we are already taking advanced bookings.
Counting down to the Festival of Youth
The Festival of Youth element of Weston Park’s autumn line up refers to three important classes in the calendar which give up and coming young stars their first taste of a three day event fixture at a prestigious venue.
In addition to the Charles Owen Pony Three Day Event (CCPI*) and the long-standing KBIS Regional Team and Individual ON U18 Championships which run as a CCIJ*, Weston Park also hosts the National Saddle Centre sponsored BE 100u18 Championship.
The line-up for the Charles Owen CCIP* includes many up and coming Pony combinations together with seven very keen Irish competitors who will strong contenders for the title.
In the KBIS U18 and the National Saddle Centre BE100u18 Championships, the Northern and Central Regions, will be hoping to repeat their success from last year but they will, however, face stiff competition from the six other Regional teams from around the UK.
In an exciting development British Eventing will be matching the KBIS CCIJ* prize money for the second year with Training Vouchers which will give the KBIS CCIJ* a total prize fund of £2,7100.
The CCI2* which is supported by long-standing sponsors David and Catherine Witt, will also include a special prize presented by British Young Rider sponsors Askham Bryan College who will be donating a £200 training bursary to the highest placed British rider Under 21 in the CCI2*.
Long standing Weston Park supporters David & Catherine Witt are again sponsoring the CCI2*.
William Fox-Pitt, Polly Stockton, Piggy French Francis Whittington to name but a few popular faces in the section.
Monarch Equestrian have generously taken on the title sponsorship of the CCI* section giving a tremendous boost to the event.
The competition starts with Dressage from 9am on Thursday, 8.30 am on Friday; Cross Country on Saturday from 9 am and Show Jumping on Sunday from 10 am
Sunday – Blue Chip BE100 Open and BE90
On Sunday a further 226 competitors split across six sections will compete for the Blue Chip BE100 Open and BE90 sections. Janet Plant comments ‘It is such a thrill to enable these competitors to jump so many of the feature spots across the park following in the footsteps of the International riders. I have such fun designing and hope the riders and their horses have a successful round and they go home having gained more experience to go forward to the next level’.
There will be a variety of trade stands including country clothing, equestrian products and fashion accessories. The new catering facilities will include the Hobson Restaurant and Bar together with the usual Fast food outlets which will be available throughout the Event.
