Next week, the organisers of West Wilts Horse Trials, near Trowbridge in Wiltshire will be celebrating hosting their 50th British Eventing fixture at this much loved venue since their first ever fixture in 1997.
BE Regional Coordinator Pattie Biden commented: “Pete and his team at West Wilts work tirelessly to ensure that every one of their fixtures offers competitors fantastic going over wonderfully presented courses. He works extremely hard and puts a huge amount of effort in to continuously improving the venue.
“He is one of the most passionate organisers I have ever dealt with, not only is he a very active member of the British Event Organisers Association and the Events Committee but he is also incredibly supportive when it comes to giving new organisers advice.”
A star studded event
Not only is the event reaching an important anniversary, there is also a very special guest in attendance on the competition line up: Olympic gold medallist Jane Holderness-Roddam CBE who will compete in her first One Day Event for 13 years on veteran horse, Tiger’s Eye II on the 18th August. Jane is getting back in to the sport to raise money for equine charities the Brooke and World Horse Welfare. You can support her here http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JaneHolderness-Roddam
Also entered at the event are several riders who have been selected to represent Britain at this year’s Longines FEI European Championships: Pippa Funnell, Izzy Taylor, Francis Whittington and William Fox-Pitt as well as six time British Olympian Mary King to name but a few of the top names.
