WE CATCH UP WITH ISABELLA MACKENZIE AFTER COMPETING AT DALKEITH

Yesterday, the 26th of July, I competed in the novice under 18 class at Dalkeith Horse Trials. My ride, image-12Romario II, remained angelic throughout all three phases jumping a double clear inside the time with a 35 dressage.

The dressage is our weakest phase but is (I hope) improving all the time. I was especially pleased with the showjumping as he jumped the best feeling round so far this season. Rommie absolutely flew round the cross country like there was nothing there making it all feel effortless which sets us up well for our next event at Burgham where we will be doing the open intermediate.
The under 18 classes are such great classes to compete in as not only do you have course walks with the under 18 coordinator and receive help in the warm ups of all three phases but you also get to compete alongside the other junior eventers in your region. If you are eligible for under 18 classes then I would fully recommend signing up as so many opportunities of training and support are available.
Thank you again to all the volunteers, organisers and sponsors of Dalkeith Horse Trials, the event was a tremendous success.
