US names eventing team for Lima 2019 Pan American Games

With the US Eventing team chasing qualification for Tokyo 2020, US Equestrian has named its squad for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

In order to secure their place at next year’s Olympic Games, the US team must win Gold or Silver at the Pan American Games.

Two time Olympian Boyd Martin heads the team with Tsetserleg with On Cue as a direct reserve. Martin, who was second at the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day event this spring, was part of the American Gold medal winning team four years ago when the games were hosted in Canada. Lynn Symansky, won team Gold at the 2011 Pan American Games, has been selected with RF Play Cool.

Doug Payne has been named with Starr Witness with Vandiver as his direct reserve whilst Tammie has been named with Fleeceworks Royal with Mai Baum has her direct reserve. Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp and Cooley Quicksilver have been named as travelling reserves.

Four reserve combinations have been nominated by US Equestrian; Phillip Dutton and Sea of Clouds, Sydney Elliot and QC Diamantaire, Will Faudree and Fun and Lauren Kieffer, who was also part of the 2015 Pan American Games Gold medal winning team, with Vermiculus.

In preparation for the competition, members of the US Eventing Team will compete at the Maryland International CCI3*-S (July 5-7) and Barbury International Horse Trials CCI3*-S (July 4-7).
