Tried and Tested: The Bucus Irish Turnout 150

My three words to sum up this rug are versatiliy, quality and value.

Bucas has long been synonymous with high performance rugs. And the Irish Turnout 150 is just one of its quality turnout rugs. It is one of the most versatile mediumweight rugs available offering great value for money.

This rug is fully waterproof and breathable with a 1200 denier rip-stop outer. So you can be safe in the knowledge your horse will stay dry and the outer material will stand up to the elements whilst also beating any horses attempts to destroy it. Against all of the rain in recent weeks my horse has stayed dry and warm throughout.

The breathable lining and shoulder darts provide extra room for your horse to move whilst fitting perfectly. Because of the silk-feel lining you don’t need to worry about the rug rubbing your horses coat away, a common problem with rugs particularly on the shoulder area, and at the same time it keeps your horses coat in good condition. It also means that the rug doesn’t slide about so you don’t need to keep re-adjusting it. Because of the great fit it would be suitable for most types and builds of horses.

A Combi Neck is available to buy separately for additional protection. It can also be used with quilts and coolers as the weather requires so it is the perfect combination rug. It’s also easy to put on and fasten. The magnetic snap lock closure is particularly great as it means the front of the rug overlaps, so it doesn’t’ gape.

The rug is available is sizes 3’6 to 7’2 making it suitable for any horse on your yard. It also comes in three lovely colours – Black, Ruby and Navy.

Retailing at £108 it is great value for money compared to other rugs of a similar type on the market and one I would definitely recommend for use throughout the winter.
