With the first month of competition complete on the 2016 British Eventing season the first names to collect league points have been revealed.
Open to British horse and rider combinations who have not represented GB at senior level, Sam Ecroyd and his own Wodan III head up the Fairfax Britannia League after the first points scoring weekend of the year. A seventh place finish in the CIC3* at The Owen Pugh Burgham International Horse Trials sits the UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Podium Potential athlete at the top of the table on 14 points.
Lottery funded World Class Podium Potential rider Tom Jackson sits six points clear in the Foundation Points table after the first month of competition. Two top three finishes at Aldon International (1), including a win in the BE100Open on Mrs Susan Normand’s Santana II sees Tom out in front on 70 points.
Owned and ridden by Rachel Holden, Martel (Medoc x Clover Hill) heads the Foundation Points ‘Top Horse’ league on 46 points. The 11 year British Warmblood has contested three BE100 events this season winning two and placing second in the third.
Top Rider in 2014 and 2015, Oliver Townend, has got his 2016 campaign off to a flying start having amassed 155 BE points already this season. After just four weeks of competition Oliver has secured an 82 point advantage over closest competitor Pippa Funnell who sits on 73 points.
Winner of the CIC3* class at The Owen Pugh Burgham International (1) Dromgurrihy Blue, owned by Mr Michael Mcgrath and ridden by Oliver Townend, collected 40 points to lead the BE Top Horse table at the start of 2016.
