Over the past couple of months I have been doing some research about keeping our horses hydrated .. so

rnp-master-logo-outlined often , if you are out competing all day , it is the case that a horse may not drink for hours . Last drink being before he left home having travelled , competed and travelled home again . It just proves how incredibly stoic these animals are !
Anyway , it made me start thinking, how much do competitors actually drink whilst at a competition and what are they drinking ??
Having done a little survey of my own it became apparent that us riders aren’t drinking enough either ( I’m not talking about Gin here obviously !) whilst out and about or in fact generally ..

So here’s a few reasons why it’s so important to stay hydrated …..

???? If you don’t get enough fluid you may feel tired , get headaches and not perform at your best .

???? The amount of fluid you need depends on many things including the weather , how much physical activity you do and your age but the general rule of thumb is 6-8 glasses a day …. that’s before mucking out 5 stables and riding 8 horses !

????Drinking water is a great choice because it delivers fluid without adding calories or potentially damaging teeth !

???? Some people ( busy amongst others ) can have a weaker sense of thirst so it’s important to keep reminding yourself to drink !

???? If it is a hot day and you’ve been really busy up your intake of water …. seems obvious but it’s surprising how many people don’t and even more surprising that they wonder why they feel rubbish at the end of a busy day !!

Making one little change like drinking more water every day can make such a huge difference to how you feel !
Always take some bottles in your Lorry so you can just grab one when you need to …… I promise you , you’ll notice a difference!!

As always , here to answer any questions you might have !

Until next time …..
