Top event riders from the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are set to compete for the $75,000 Asheville Regional Airport Wellington Eventing Showcase.
Presented by Wellington Equestrian Realty, the event will be held at The Stadium at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), on February 5-6, 2016. Riders invited to compete includes two UK based New Zealand riders – Tim Price and Dan Jocelyn as well as American rider Liz Halliday-Sharp. Other well known names from the world of eventing taking part include Buck Davidson (USA), Phillip Dutton (USA), Sinead Halpin (USA), Colleen Rutledge (USA), last year’s winner Boyd Martin (USA) and Joe Meyer (NZL).
Competitors will demonstrate the first phase of the three-part sport, focusing on the balance and fluidity of dressage on Friday, February 5. The competition then continues with the stadium jumping and cross-country portions of the sport the following day, Saturday, February 6 with the event run at the Advanced level.
The unique event highlights the Olympic sport at a premier venue with $75,000 in prize money with approximately 35 horse and rider combinations competing. The full starting line-up will be announced a week before the competition.
