The finals were held at venues around the country for the BE90 and BE100 championships with riders eager to book their place at the final which takes place at Badminton in May.

Third time proved to be the charm for North Yorkshire’s Jane Lee as a win at the last BE100 Mitsubishi Motors Regional Final at Norton Disney (2), Lincolnshire, secured her ticket to the 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Cup.

Having attempted qualification on board her own eight-year-old gelding Gorgeous at both the Shelford Manor (2) and Aske International (2) Regional Finals earlier in the year their win this weekend ensured their first ever qualifying spot to the popular event.

A dressage score of 26.0 the pair up for a good run and, despite a pole down in the show jumping, no one was able to touch their score following a clear cross county round within the time. Nicole Hoult from Tyne and Wear was the closest competitor just 0.5 penalties behind the winners. Completing on her dressage score of 30.5 with her own 15-year-old mare Caramel Charm, the pair booked their place to the competition next year, having competed at the championship back in 2015.

Worcestershire’s Henrietta Horsley-Gubbins rounded off the top three as she also collected her first trip to the Cup riding her own six-year-old gelding Trinity Cavalier, just 0.3 penalties stood between her and second place after finishing on their dressage score of 30.8 penalties. Seven combinations from Norton Disney picked up their place to the Mitsubishi Motors Cup next year.

Competitors in the Mitsubishi Motors Cup, formerly known as the Mitsubishi Motors Grassroots Championships, will ccompete for a spectacular prize package which includes the winner of both the BE90 and BE100 taking home a new car from the Mitsubishi range for one year, thanks to title sponsors Mitsubishi Motors.
