Dressage underway at Osberton
After the first full day of dressage at Osberton International Horse Trails, Vicky Tuffs has taken a commanding lead in the KBIS British Eventing Young Horse Championships for Five Year Olds.
Riding Its Cooley, a 16.3hh old bay gelding by Indorado by Vallery Hill, Vicky posted a score of 24.1 putting her 3.2 penalties ahead of Piggy French and Ballycanu. Piggy also holds on to third spot with Carsten of Westoak.
Eventing Worldwide’s LVS Stonehaven’s Quebec, ridden by Alexander Bragg, posted a score of 29.5 putting the combination into sixth place after the first phase leaving the combination close to the leaders going into the jumping phases.
At the halfway stage of the CCI1*, the joint leaders are Alex Portolowsky and Akolien and Tanya Kyle with Gortfadda Diamond on a score of 37.2 penalties. Third and fourth spots are held by combinations representing Belgium – Constantin Van Rijckevorsel and High 5 Du Langwater (40.8) and Stephanie D’Andrimont with Creevagh Miss Ferro (41.1), a place she jointly holds with Felicity Collins and Just Amazing III.
The CCI2* competition is currently lead by France’s Stanislas De Zuchowicz on Sobbys Des Champs on a score of 32 penalties. William Fox-Pitt is close on his heals with two rides – Ramdam Des Mons in second (35.5) and Secret Night in third (37.0). Eventing Worldwide’s regular blogger Emily King currently lies in tenth with Walitze F Vejgard on a score of 41.3.
Tomorrow sees dressage get underway in the CICYH1* and CICYH2* – for six and seven year old horses respectively – as well as the conclusion of the British Eventing Young Horse Championships for Four and Five Year Olds who will complete their dressage, show jumping and cross country before the champions are decided.
