The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event (LRK3DE) has received the new Five Star status from the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

The new status, along with its respective requirements and rules, will take effect January 1, 2019. The proposition to alter the star system was accepted at the FEI General Assembly in 2017 but not effective until 2019. The new system states that CCI competitions will now be referred to as CCI-L (for long) while CIC competitions will become CCI-S (for short), whilst the existing levels are being increased by a single star – the existing One Star level becomes the Two Star level, the Two Star becomes the Three Star, the Three Star becomes the Four Star, and the CCI4* becomes ... Event Rider Masters (ERM) has seen its television distribution figures for 2018 significantly increase according to an independent media audit

The eventing series, which was launched in 2016, saw its total dedicated television ratings audience increase by 235% rise from 687,000 viewers in 2017 to 2,304,894 in 2018. One of the biggest audience increases came in Asia as a result of new broadcast deals in India, China and the Far East. The total number of hours broadcast globally on television rose from 965 to more than 1,300 in 2018. Portugese event riders are set to benefit from the expertise of double Gold Olympic Gold medallist Sir Mark Todd. The Portuguese Equestrian Federation (FEP), Sociedade Hipica Portuguesa (SHP), and the Portuguese Eventing Association (ACCE) have announced Joint Clinic the New Zealander as part of a series of events and changes planned by the ACCE and the FEP to improve the state of eventing in Portugal. This week has seen an important round of meetings for the FEI. Here is an overview of the decisions taken and how they affect the sport of eventing. Olympic Games The qualification period for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games starts on January 2, 2019. The Olympic Eventing test event (CCI3*-S) will be held at the Tokyo 2020 venues on August 10-12, 2019. The Eventing qualifier for Group C will be held in Baborowko (POL) from 23-26 May 2019. Shannon crown Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event winners

After an exciting final day of jumping at the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day EvenHazel Shannon and Willingapark Clifford were crowned the winners - their second victory at the CCI**** event. The Southern Hemisphere’s only top-level eventing competition made history as it was the first time a combination had won the event for the second time and it was the first time that there has been an all-female top ten at this level of competition. Klimke claims indoor derby in Stuttgart

For the second time since 2012, World Championship bronze medal winner Ingrid Klimke won the indoor derby at the Stuttgart German Masters. Riding the 14-year-old Trakehner gelding Parmenides, she was the last starter of the 23 competitors. And the European Champion rose to the occasion to beat double world champion Rosalind Canter. THE NEW LOOK 2019 BRITISH EVENTING CALENDAR

The 2019 British Eventing fixture list was announced last week with a number of exciting initiatives. Eventing Worldwide takes a look at these in more detail. Bramham International Horse Trials has announed that Equi-Trek will continue its title sponsorship of the event for a further three years.
