Kelsall Hill is a friendly event based in Cheshire and always attracts local professionals such as Oliver 14467072_10209410231306475_2070236027_oTownend, Emily Gilruth and Carlos Parro. Classes range from BE80(T) up to Intermediate and include a Pony ON. The event is sponsored by Istanbul BBQ Chester.

Cheshire based rider Arthur Duffort ended in the top 10 on two different rides in the Intermediate Section X. The win came from Michael Owen who finished on his dressage score of 33.9 on Jims Pal. They were the only combination who finished on their dressage score. Arthur finished fourth on Oaklands First Time and 7th on Tickled Pink VI. This was just behind young rider Brier Leahy who finished  6th on Kellen.

Oliver Townsend won the OI class with Ballaghmor Class. He put forward a remarkable 26.6 dressage score and only added 4 penalties from the Show Jumping, leaving him on a score of 30.6. Louise Harwood came just behind in 2nd with Mr Potts and Sarah Parkes came 3rd with Balladeer Durban Hills.

Anya Kolleth, who was part of this years GB Silver medal winning team at the Pony European Championships took the win in the PON class. It was however very close with Anya finishing on the same score as second placed rider Saffron Osborne, 36. Anya rode Laburnum Ineer to the best dressage score of 28, followed by 8 penalties show jumping but a clear round cross country inside the time. There were only three riders who managed to finish inside the time cross country, Anya and Saffron were two of them and the other was Tom Bird. Tom finished 3rd riding Night Fury.

There were only 16 competitors in the ONU18 class and out of the 16 four combinations were either eliminated cross country or decided to retire. One also withdrew after show jumping. The winner was Ben Read who rode Dougal Delight to a 34.5 dressage score and only 4 penalties to be added to that from the show jumping phase. Corinne Molyneux came 2nd on Tipsy Laird and Chloe Rodriguez finished 3rd with Rathmoyle King. Nobody managed a double clear in the section with the only two riders who show jumped clear then going on to have difficulties cross country.

Lauren Shannon stormed into the lead with Falbaran H2 after finishing on the best dressage score of 28.5 in Novice Section I. Oliver Townend finished behind Lauren with Menlo Park after adding 1.2 time faults to their dressage score of 33.5.

Local rider Alex Hua Tian rode Elsinore ELS for the win in Novice Section J. The combination finished on their dressage score of 27.8. Arthur Duffort and Gredington Mailthyme also finished on their dressage score to finish up in second place on 28.8. Michael Owen had a better dressage score of 26.5, however 2.8 time faults meant that he slipped down into third place with Bohernarude.

In Novice Section K Kristie Clinch was the rider to come out on top riding Fernando IV. The combination were the only one to finish on their dressage score, this left them on a score of 30.3 which was also the best dressage score of the section. Paul Sims and Lonestar put in a good performance for second place, adding only 0.4 time penalties to their dressage score of 31.

Gareth Thomas attempted his first BE100 on Crabbies Cloudy and also won Section Z. They finished on their dressage score of 28.8. Tyler Cassells came second on Serenade III after adding 2 time faults to their dressage score of 26.8. Gareth was the only competitor to finish on their dressage score throughout the who section of 34.

Shadow Royal Patriot pulled out a fantastic dressage score with Carlos Parro on board for a 23.8 in BE100 Section Y. This meant that even with 4 faults in the show jumping phase the combination still clinched the win by 1.2 penalties. Emily Gilruth came second on Pembry Malikha after finishing on their dressage score of 29. Ewart Woolley and Catena Vant Gelutt Z came home in third position after adding only 2.4 time penalties to a 29.5 dressage score.

Paula Jane Holden posted a 21.3 dressage score on Eberhard for the win in BE90 Section A, despite having 4 faults show jumping the combination still won the section on a score of 25.3. Sharon Latham wasn’t far behind on Torpenhow Lia after finishing on the next best dressage score; 25.5. Paula Jane Holden also took the win in BE90 Section B aboard Springwind Catwalk. She finished on a dressage score of 26, leaving her marginally ahead on Jemma Craddock and Princess Razelle who finished on their dressage score of 26.8.

Estelle Eccleston won her second consecutive event aboard Top Its Ambitious after finishing on a fantastic 21 dressage score. Tom Otter and Soley Britannia came second finishing on their dressage score of 26.5, 5.5 penalties behind Estelle.

The BE80(T) Sections sponsored by Airowear saw lots of good performances. One being from Section E winners Jane Taylor and Riverstone Blue Diamond. They won despite having 4 time faults cross country after an impressive 24.8 dressage score. They finished 1.2 penalties ahead of second placed combination who finished on 30. This was Amy Cliff and Ambils Flash Harry, they added nothing to their dressage score. This was also Amy’s first ever affiliated event and Jane’s first ever affiliated win.

It was a tight race for first place in BE80(T) Section H with both Sarah Nicole Evans and Rachel White posting good dressage scores. Rachel White got a 25.8 dressage on Le Ramexico, however the 2.4 time penalties meant that she slipped behind Sarah who finished on her dressage score of 26.5. Sarah was riding Casanova Can’t Wait. Samantha Tomlinson and Wicket finished on their dressage score of 31for 3rd place.
