This week’s winner of ‘The Prize Giving’ Jaide Hartridge is absolutely delighted, with her 5 year old horse Georgie. Together they secured thier first ever British Eventing win in a 90 section at Dauntsey Park on Sunday.
Georgie was purchased as a 4 year old a year ago from the Smith Brothers in Ireland.
From the very beginning Jaide knew this young horse was destined to be a great eventer, her attitude to work has been second to none and they have achieved more than Jaide could have ever hoped for this season.
The pair went double clear at their first BE100 at BCA earlier this season, but unfortunately had a couple of uncharacteristic jumping faults at Firle BE100, but later found out that this was due to her over reach boots rubbing her. The decision was made to drop Georgie down a level at Dauntsey to restore any confidence that may have been lost.
With a new comfortorable set of over reach boots and a couple of fantastic training sessions with Jaide’s trainer Alex Hudson, Georgie was feeling better than ever and they went on to finish on their dressage score of 29.5 and win, a clear 6.3 faults in the lead, which was absolutely fantastic.
Cross country proved to be quiet a challenge with only 12 combinations going clear in their section, but Georgie was an absolute machine and finished well within the time, full of running.
Jaide told Eventing Worldwide “I couldn’t have wished for a better 5 year old who tries her heart out for me, and it was particularly nice to have this noted on my dressage test as ‘a horse who wants to please’. Safe to say it was an emotional day! We will now finish the season with a BE100 run at Norton Disney”.
