Italy to field full eventing team in Rio

The Italian Equestrian Sports Federation has announced that it will be taking four event riders to this year’s Olympic Games in Rio.

The federation had earned three places in the eventing competition based on individual FEI rankings at the close of the deadline in March, which allowed them to put forward a team of three. However, the federation is now able to send a full team of four riders following the withdrawal of an athlete from another country.

The federation has also named its short list of horses and riders from which the team will be announced by July 15. Those nominated include:

  • App. Sc. Stefano Brecciaroli (Apollo Vd Wendi Kurt Hoeve)
  • App. Sc. Stefano Brecciaroli (Roulette B)
  • 1° Av. Sc. Vittoria Panizzon (Borough Pennyz)
  • Luca Roman (Castlewoods Jake)
  • Pietro Roman (Barraduff)
  • Arianna Schivo (Quefira de l’Ormeau)
  • Giovanni Ugolotti (Oplitas)
