Horse & Country Announces New Programme Line-up Including Record Live Sports Coverage

Horse & Country TV (H&C) today announced a raft of new programmes scheduled to run across February and March this year.

As well as a roster of brand new series and documentaries, the line-up includes a record number of live sports events, reflecting H&C’s ongoing investment in its streaming service, H&C Plus.
Series and Documentaries

February sees some of H&C’s most popular figures return to the channel with new shows. And there’s a brand new face, albeit a famous one, with Isabell Werth making her H&C debut.
Highlights include:

Burto’s Basics. In this series Australian event rider Christopher Burton reveals that he’s often wondered if there’s another way to train young horses. Across four episodes Chris teams up with specialist young horse trainer, Connie Colfox, who uses positive reinforcement techniques and treats to train her horses. It’s not just the horses, it’s a learning journey for Burto, too.

Expert Advice from Annemarie. Dutch trainer Annemarie van der Toorn returns with a new three-part series visiting owners in the Gloucestershire countryside and helping build the bond between rider and horse. As ever, Annemarie’s deep understanding of equine behaviour delivers the goods.

The Year of the Pig. For Piggy March, 2019 truly was an Annus Mirabilis. Along with her 15 international
wins, she ended the year as Badminton champion, sitting on top of the BE rider rankings. And there was a surprise wedding to cap it all. In this revealing one-hour documentary we hear from Piggy and her team about their unforgettable year.

Half Halt with Pammy Hutton. Since her debut in the All Star Academy, Pammy Hutton has really captured the imagination of H&C’s viewers. She may come over as a fearsome character but her heart of gold always shines through. And, as a trainer, Pammy commands universal respect. In this five-part series Pammy breaks down some of the myths surrounding dressage and explains, in simple terms, what your trainer is actually trying to say to you!

Masterclass with Isabell Werth. German dressage legend and five-time Olympian Isabell Werth makes her H&C debut in this new series. Over the course of five half-hour episodes, Isabell gives a unique insight into what has propelled her to the very top of equestrian sport.

Live Sport

Across February and March H&C will show more live sport than ever before. Subscribers can view all of the following shows with more to be announced shortly.

  • The Dutch Masters and Rolex Grand Slam
  • The Dutch Masters is one of the four events that comprise the Rolex Grand Slam along with Aachen, Spruce Meadows and Geneva. H&C viewers can enjoy extensive live coverage from 13th to 15th March, culminating in the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. As well as the prize money for the class, any rider who wins three Grand Slam events in a row takes home a €1m bonus, so expect to see the world’s top riders giving it everything.
  • CSI5* Jumping International de Bordeaux
On the 7th and 9th February H&C will show the Derby and Grand Prix respectively from this world-class event.
  • Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show
Beginning in 1955 with just 50 horses and a dozen trainers, The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is now the world’s largest Arabian horse show. H&C is streaming every day of the action from 13th to 23rd February. The show is just one of the many American events H&C is bringing to its audience this year.
  • Look out for more from the US soon.
  • British Dressage from Bury Farm and Hartpury

H&C viewers love to see the full range of competition, not just world-class events. The channel has partnered with a number of top venues across the UK to bring more live sport, including grassroots coverage, to the audience.

A range of BD classes will be streamed from Hartpury on 15th February and Bury Farm on 17th February.

Arena UK

H&C’s partnership with Arena UK goes from strength to strength. Forthcoming live events include the BS Large Pony Premier from February 29th to March 1st, and the BS Small Pony Premier on March 7th and 8th.
Commenting on the line-up, Director of Content at H&C, Jonathan Rippon, said;

“The recent changes we’ve made at H&C are driven by our desire to continually improve the amount and quality of new programmes we bring to our audience. The February and March line-up features our biggest ever commitment to live coverage along with great new offerings from some of our top talent. I’m looking forward to announcing further new formats and innovations as the year progresses.”
