The lack of rain in East Anglia over the past month has caused no end of concern for every competitor so it is no wonder that the ground team at Horseheath are already checking equipment and preparing to irrigate to ensure the ground is in good condition, in the event of a lack of rainfall, ahead of the PwC Horseheath Horse Trials (2) 11/12 August. Entries opened on 5th July 2018 and can be made via www.britisheventing.com.
Over the past two years the team has also been working on seeding and developing a new glade to the top right of the course which will be unveiled for the first time in August.
Also new for August, Devoucoux is giving prizes for the top 5 in each BE80(T) section and will provide the overall league winner with £500 worth of Devoucoux vouchers. The top 10 in each section will be awarded points, 10 points for 1st, sliding to 1 point for 10th. The points will be accumulated over the 6 events and an overall winner announced at the final event, hosted at Keysoe, in August.
The August Cross Country course is being designed by Tina Ure and built by David Carpenter. As with April’s event there will be a good focus on natural fences using wood sourced from the Thurlow estate. The Horseheath carved tree jump was particularly admired in April.
Horseheath Horse Trials, situated on the Thurlow Estate, just four miles west of Haverhill, off the A1307, take place over two days and attract over 600 competitors, from across the region, who come to compete in classes from BE80 (T) to BE100 in all three disciplines including Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. Horseheath Horse Trials is unique in offering spectators excellent views across the whole XC course from a single vantage point.
Spectators are welcome, as are dogs on leads, over the two days with plenty of catering from Evies Kitchen, Caffee Mobile, Jacks Snacks, Gt Yeldham Distillery and Pimms served from a specially converted horsebox. The entry fee of £5 per car is donated and split between the Air Ambulance Service and Maggie’s Centre Cambridge.
There will be plenty of trade stands to peruse including Forelock & Load Saddlery, Barnbrook Infinity Bands, Devoucoux, Thunderbrooks, and Binders.
In addition to our wonderful principle sponsor PwC, additional sponsors include Carter Jonas, NFU Mutual, Duck Plumbing & Heating, Saffrey Champness, Top Spec, Newmarket Equine Hospital, Taylor Vinters, Roythornes Solicitors, Rossdales, Lockhart Garratt, Andrew Hodge, Ernest Doe, Tabor Group, Virbac 3D Worming, Teversham Motors, Top Spec, Crows Hall, Barnadiston,Thunderbrook, Cadenza Eventing, Godolphin Lifetime Care and Simple Systems.
