Just four weeks away, the Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale of event horses, which will be held on the November 9-11th in Co Wexford, has already created much excitement. The catalogue of sixty-one horses is tempting enough alone, but has been further enhanced by an entry of three top level horses offered by Oliver Townend.
Explaining his reasons for this ground breaking move Oliver commented. “Producing and selling is something myself and business partner Andrew Cawthray have done the whole way through — it has always been a business. I feel that this is a huge step forward for the event industry and the first time that a group of top class horses have been offered at a public auction. This most certainly is not a clearance sale; these are all potentially four-star performers.”
Among the trio are the eight-year-old Peruising, an Irish bred advanced gelding who has won his last two intermediate runs, and recently completed in fourth spot at the CCI** at Ballindenisk. The similarly aged LCC Cooley has clocked up two top ten placings from his last international two-star runs, while the hugely consistent Red Andes Fanfare has only twice been out of the top four all season.
“The Go For Gold sale is an established and highly respected sale of event horses,” Oliver said. “When we made the decision to sell at auction, there was never any need to look further. The trial facilities and the way the auction works is second to none — and by far the best I have been to.”
Other notable horses being sold at this year’s showcase include Horse Sport Ireland’s four-year-old event champion Peeping Pockets, and the Millstreet Discovery five-year-old champion Grovine Class Act. The three-year olds offer a mouth-watering selection of well related performers from the families of Imperial Cavalier, the American based Woodstock Bennett, Peruising, Bodidily, Shannondale Mel and more.
