GOING TWEEDY…THE ULTIMATE BAG FOR ALL OCCASIONS

In March Equetech have launched a new bag to their range which develops their lines of forward thinking, style conscious products. I was fortunate to be sent a pre-release sample which is now my number one go to when I need an accessory that covers all bases.Equetech%20Kenton%20Tweed%20Messenger_Grooms%20Bag%20emailer

The Equetech Tweed Messenger Bag comes in two colours Kenton (green) and Wheatley (brown).
Made in luxury pure new wool tweed, the messenger style bag has an adjustable cotton webbing strap and two large outer front pockets with quick release buckles. Other features include an inner zip pocket, an Equetech gold shield badge and the ubiquitous and very classic snaffle and bridle print lining.
Priced at an RRP of £54.95 the bag sits at the midway point, offering very good quality cloth and manufacture. The bag sits very well within a competitive and often pricey market.

So what has this tweedy number been up to? EWW gives you a day in the life of a tweedy Equetech bag…

Firstly it makes a great kit bag. Sadly with security being an issue these days you need somewhere to safely stash your valuables, documents, horse passports and personal kit. This bag is ideal for that as the two large pockets are an ideal size for horse passports, keeping all your documentation, purse, keys and valuables in one place and easy for your helper or groom to grab and go. It’s also a useful place to stash all those emergency numbers should things not go to plan…

Speaking of valuables I don’t know many people who don’t take at least a camera with them to events. The Equetech messenger bag makes an ideal AV kit bag. Its long strap means you can sling it securely over your shoulder while capturing the action!

The essentials bag… I ended up using my bag as an oversized handbag for eventing essentials… think hairnets, lucky lipstick (yes it is lucky!), wet wipes, hairbrush, hairnets, dressage test, directions, energy drink and all the other small bits and bobs that get lost in the lorry. The pockets and zip sections make the bag perfect for this. No longer am I searching for things in a blind panic!

The grooming kit… it seems a shame to use such an elegant bag for brushes but if you want to lead the style pack then look towards this design. My groom used the bag as a pre dressage grooming bag. There is enough space to stash a cloth, polish and baby oil plus boots when they come off a horse. The messenger bag is lightweight and easy to carry plus its robust so you don’t feel like it’s being trashed when subjecting it to a hard-core day in the field.
The mini picnic bag… Ideal for spectators and fence judges… pack up your pack up and enjoy your eventing without dragging along a heavy Fortnum’s hamper. Simple, classic, functional and smart.

The changing bag… put it this way…my children have been used to outdoor living and nappy changing for a long time. The Equetech bag makes for an ideal changing bag and can hold more than enough baby kit for a good day out.20150214_154539

The man bag… this bag isn’t just for ladies. The styling and materials are decidedly unisex and the men that I spoke to said they would be happy using the bag. So let’s face it ladies… even if it has your kit inside there is no excuse for you other half not to carry your luggage!

The laptop bag… The final use of the bag was a meeting in town with a design agency. I like to pimp up tweed with a bit of leather so the bag looked great with a very neat Prada biker jacket, jeans and heels. As this design can be worn across your chest its safer to use on the tube and can hold all you need for a day of meetings. Perfectly timeless but looking decidedly cool.

The verdict…
The Equetech messenger bag is a timeless classic. It is perfect for ring side use or as a stylish handbag. Priced at an RRP of £54.95 the bag sits at the midway point, offering very good quality cloth and manufacture. The bag sits very well within a competitive and often pricey market.
