France has announced the team of riders who it hopes will bring home the gold medal at the forthcoming FEI European Eventing Championships in Poland.
Following the choice made by the national competition coach, Thierry Touzaint and the French technical team, the following riders have been chosen to compete at Strzegom in August.
Thomas Carlile and Upsilon, winners of the Event Rider Masters at Barbury earlier this month, have been named alongside Sidney Dufresne (Treasure Mail), Gwendolen Fer (Traumprinz), Maxime Livio (Opium de Verriere or Qalao des Mers), Donatien Schauly (Pivoine des Touches) and Thibaut Vallette (Qing du Briot).
Gwendolen Fer said she was very proud to be part of the French team following her inclusion on the squad.
Cedric Lyard (Qatar du Puech Roget) and Matthieu Van Landeghem (Trouble-Fete) have been named as reserves.
The French team proved their strength when they took the Gold medal at last year’s Olympic Games in Rio. Thibault Vallette is the only rider from last year’s team to be heading to the European Championships.
