Double CCI**** winner Jonelle Price has been nominated for High Performance Sport New Zealand Sportswoman of the Year at the 56th ISPS Handa Halberg Awards. Ranked seventh in the FEI Eventing World Athlete rankings, Price was the winner of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials in May with Classic Moet, and followed this up with victory at Luhmuhlen in June with Faerie Dianamo. She was also part of New Zealand’s World Equestrian Games squad where she finished in the top 20 with her Badminton winner. Irish Equestrian stars honoured at Horse Sport Ireland medal reception

Irish event riders were honour at the Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) medal reception following an outstanding year. In September, the senior Irish Eventing team made history winning the World Championship silver medal whilst Padraig McCarthy won the individual silver medal at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, and in the process gained Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020. LONGINES named as Luhmühlen’s new title partner

In a long-term agreement, LONGINES will increase its engagement and act as Luhmühlen’s Title Partner in 2019. In addition to the title partnership of Luhmühlen’s CCI5*-L competition (formerly CCI****) LONGINES has also committed to the title partnership of the Longines FEI Eventing European Championships. From Baborówko to Tokyo 2020

The FEI General Assembly has announced that an eventing qualifier for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will be held during Equestrian Festival Baborówko 2019 For athletes in Group C, which includes countries from Central and Eastern Europe, it is one of the two opportunities to qualify for the Olympics. The second qualifying competition takes place at the FEI European Eventing Championships at Luhmuhlen. The qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be played out at the Polish event (23-26 May) as the CCI4*-L class. The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event (LRK3DE) has received the new Five Star status from the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

The new status, along with its respective requirements and rules, will take effect January 1, 2019. The proposition to alter the star system was accepted at the FEI General Assembly in 2017 but not effective until 2019. The new system states that CCI competitions will now be referred to as CCI-L (for long) while CIC competitions will become CCI-S (for short), whilst the existing levels are being increased by a single star – the existing One Star level becomes the Two Star level, the Two Star becomes the Three Star, the Three Star becomes the Four Star, and the CCI4* becomes ... The Portuguese Equestrian Federation (FEP), Sociedade Hipica Portuguesa (SHP), and the Portuguese Eventing Association (ACCE) have announced Joint Clinic the New Zealander as part of a series of events and changes planned by the ACCE and the FEP to improve the state of eventing in Portugal. Sarah Carles reports.. It was a win for Great Britain at the penultimate leg of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup series in Waregem. On a team score of 86.4 penalties, the British team ranked second behind Germany on a score of 78.9 after the dressage.
