WILL RAWLIN – 2017 thats a wrap ….

Osberton Outing

To wrap up the 2017 season, Will and two of his horses; Ballycoog Breaker Boy and The Partner headed to Osberton, for the Young Event Horse Championships.
Ballycoog Breaker Boy gained a top 10 placing in the 5 year old class, and The Partner also had an impressive performance in the Young Horse CIC ** class, both horses have gained from the experience and grown in their confidence about being away from home.

There was little to contest Ballycoog Breaker Boy (William)’s super dressage score of 27.1, leaving the pair in joint second after dressage. Only a single pole came between the Williams and a podium placing after another awesome cross country round inside the time secured them 10th place.
For this 5 year old to have only had two fences down all season is impressive to say the least and there is much excitement for this young horse’s future.

The Partner is another young horse demonstrating real promise. Being his first competition at this level, The Partner certainly proved his potential, not only keeping a level head in the dressage but also producing one of only a handful of clear rounds on a testing show jumping track which had some of the big names retiring.

Across the country, just one simple error led to an unfortunate 20 penalties through inexperience but overall Will was really pleased with The Partner’s performance and is looking forward to what next season will bring, where he will be focusing on the Calver Wealth Management 2* league.

Both horses’ fantastic performances, meant that Osberton was the perfect way for Will and his team to end the season on a high. It was particularly enjoyable as many of Will’s supporters were able to join him over the 5 days, which Will really enjoys.

Off Season

After their final competition, The Partner and Ballycoog Breaker boy wound down with a week of light work before embarking on their six week holiday. Currently, they are both rather fat and fluffy, and perhaps surprisingly, quite unimpressed with their time off!

After foregoing the event season in favour of strength and conditioning work, V.I.P Vinnie has come back into work with focus already on the season ahead, where it is planned Vinnie will step up to 3* level. Vinnie has joined Will’s other horses, V.I.P Vino, and Snowdon II who are also back in work.

Best Behaviour

Jason Webb, whom Will has worked with in the past, brings on a lot of young horses and is particularly proficient when dealing with equine behavioural issues.

One of Will’s horses who has previously missed competitions because of his behaviour spent some time with Jason. Since his return he has improved dramatically, is now much more relaxed and willing to work, and no hooves have left the ground where they previously would have done, all too regularly! Much of what Jason has taught Will is also being used on the training with other horses which is very beneficial.

Ownership Opportunities

Stay tuned in to Will’s social media pages, as well as Elite Horse Owners’ to be the first to know of the ownership opportunities launching soon, including:

  • Syndicate for Ballycoog Breaker Boy
  • Full sale of Snowdon II
  • a “picnic” syndicate for The Partner.

Off Season

Between now and next season Will hopes to have achieved his HGV licence. After years of talking about it, the test is finally booked!  He will Spend some time training with Chris Burton in the New Year which Will did earlier this year, which proved very beneficial to long term development.  Will is also using the time to concentrate on personal strength and conditioning training under the guidance of a personal trainer to ensure that Will’s body is equal in it’s balance therefore ensuring he is even more balanced on the horses.

As well as this, there are also some exciting sponsorship partnerships on the horizon to be revealed in the lead up to the 2018 season.

Now for a short holiday in France resting and recharging the batteries before preparation starts for 2018 – can’t wait!
