Philip Surl, Team Manager of the British Nations Cup squad has today announced the four riders who will represent Britain in the next leg of the FEI CICO3* Eventing Nations Cup competition in Ballindenisk (IRL) this coming weekend. This is the last competition of the series before Britain host the next leg on home turf at Houghton Hall International (Norfolk, 28-31 May).
The riders, supported by the National Lottery UK Sport funded World Class Programme, will be as follows (in alphabetical order):
Louise Harwood (39, Herefordshire) riding Whitson (12 year old bay British-bred gelding) owned by Roy Baker and Emma Baker-Jones.
Nicky Roncoroni (36, Gloucestershire) riding Stonedge (11 year old grey Irish-bred gelding) owned by Mrs Janey Barclay Roncoroni.
Georgie Strang (age 27, from Kent) riding Cooley Business Time (10 year old bay ISH gelding) owned by Mrs Jenny Newton.
Izzy Taylor (31, Oxfordshire) riding KBIS Starchaser (12 year old grey Dutch-bred gelding) owned by Mrs Jo Meyer and KBIS British Equestrian.
Team manager Philip Surl commented: “Izzy brings with her a wealth of Nations Cup team experience having recently paired KBIS Briarlands Matilda to sixth place and team bronze at the Fontainebleau leg of the series. It will be great to have Nicky and Stonedge back on the squad again this weekend; they were a strong combination at Ballindenisk this time last year and are fantastic team players”.
“This will be Louise’s first time on the GB Nations Cup Team; I am really looking forward to seeing how she and Whitson get on as they have extremely consistent form at three star level. Georgie and her promising young ride also join us as newcomers to the team with some fantastic recent three star form under their belts, including third place at Boekelo last autumn.”
Full information including running times and team order will be announced following the initial veterinary inspection.
