The first leg of the inaugural Event Rider Masters (ERM) will take place at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May in Derbyshire. Forty of the very best horse and rider combinations from the sport of Eventing will be competing, with a total of £50,000 in prize money up for grabs this weekend.

New for 2016, ERM incorporates six three star Eventing competitions at venues across Great Britain with a total of £350,000 on offer across the series. This weekend’s first leg of the series features nine nations represented by riders from Great Britain, Australia, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand and America.

The ERM competition can be viewed live on Saturday (dressage) and Sunday, when the competition culminates with the Showjumping and cross-country ran in reverse order. Free streaming can be viewed at www.eventridermasters.tv

Three times world number one William Fox-Pitt, Gemma Tattersall who finished third at last week’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, former World Champion Zara Tindall and the formidable husband and wife team of Tim and Jonelle Price (NZ) are some of the names featuring amongst a world class field of riders and horses.

It will take a very special riding performance to be crowned the first ERM winner. Throughout the series, each phase of the sport of Eventing; Dressage; Showjumping and Cross-Country will be challenged. The first leg this weekend is focused very much on the speed and stamina of the final phase. If one of the competitors can complete the Chatsworth cross-country without time penalties, they will become the second person to do so in over 1000 attempts.

Alice Fox-Pitt, a Director of ERM said;

“We are really excited to be getting going. And, as well as kicking off the first leg of the ERM series in a magnificent setting at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials, its set to be a scorcher of a competition, with forty of the highest ranked riders in the world poised to take part.

“We hope that the competition formatted for a global television audience will deliver and if it’s as good as we believe it will be, it will herald a new contemporary twist on our sport whilst staying true to its historic values.”
