The second day of dressage at the SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials saw British riders take a strong hold on the competition as the held nine of the top ten places out of the 101 starters. Twenty-four year old Bella Innes Ker maintains her first-day lead. Riding the Duchess of Roxburghe’s 14-year-old mare Carolyn, her score of 24.4 gives her a 2.3-penalty advantage going into the cross country. Bella said: “Carolyn is in amazing form. EVENT REPORTS – The Whatley Manor & Spa Gatcombe International Horse Trials

The Whatley Manor & Spa Gatcombe International Horse Trials took place from 7th-9th September and it was a key fixture for the top international riders with 1*, 2*, novice and intermediate classes. Now in its 24th year, the event uses a different area of the Gatcombe Estate from that used for the Festival of British Eventing, which was held a few weeks before. EVENT REPORTS – West Wilts (3)

The last of West Wilts’ three British Eventing fixtures hosted 16 sections garnering more than 550 entries across three days of competition.  In BE100 Section A the top two riders ended up on the same score but the win went to Rosie Fry and Kiwi Cruise. Ruth Gregory reports .. Frickley estates’ hugely popular event, based in beautiful South Yorkshire park land, hosted its second and final event of the season. The event ran solely national classes ranging from BE80T to BE105, with a meaty entry of over 600 competitors across a jam packed two days of sport. The event ran its annual Yorkshire Champion classes, which allow Yorkshire based combinations the opportunity to battle it out for the BE100 and BE90 championship titles with generous prize funds. Millie Wain reports .. Burnham Market held one day of competition with classes ranging from BE80(T) to Novice and the event attracted over 250 entries across 11 sections. Burnham Market’s second event on the BE calendar was part of the Tri-Star Saracen Horse Feeds grassroots and Fairfax Saddles Novice leagues . There was one Airowear BE80(T) section and the winner was Caroline Day riding the 4 year old Bellagio 99. Competition gets underway at SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials

Sarah Carless .. Competition at the SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials got underway today with 180 horses competing in dressage, show jumping and cross country over the next four days. In the CCI*** it was young rider Bella Innes Ker who took the lead at the end of the first day with her mother the Duchess of Roxburghe's 14-year-old mare Carolyn. The early autumnal sunshine made its appearance in time for the second of British Eventing Fixtures held at Cockshutts Farm, home of Sapey Cross Country, established in 2002 by current organisers Alan and Audrey Thacker. Sapey (2) welcomed a variety of competitors across 15 sections including Be80(t), BE90, BE100, Novice and ONu18 sections. The eventing community have been very thankful for the improvement recent rainfall has made to the ground, and Sapey was no exception. Charley Adams reports The final Aswanley Horse Trials was a great success with more than 200 competing in classes from BE80(T) to Novice. However, the event was tinged with some sadness. This year was the final British Eventing event at Aswanley as organiser Pamela Ingleby made the decision to hang up her boots. She has been running horse trials at Aswanley for 31 years, with 19 years of British Eventing at Aswanley. Goring Heath Horse Trials in Oxfordshire ran on the opening weekend of September and as always proved popular with grassroots riders with more than 500 entries across the two days. The event hosted regional finals for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup at BE100 and such was demand there were two sections. Zara Heathcote was the winner in BE100 Section K, who said she was “thrilled” with to qualify with Martha Imp.
