EVENT REPORTS – International round up from Boekelo and Strzegom

Sarah Carless reports ... Boekelo Great Britain clinched the FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing series 2018 crown - the third time since the competition began in 2012. Great Britain headed into the final leg at Boekelo trailing France by ten points so it was all to play for in the CCI*** long format competition. And with a second place Great Britain crept ahead of France, who finished in seventh place, to win on a total of 570 points. France finished in second place with 540 points and Germany third with 420 points having won the team competition ... Read More

EVENT REPORTS – Askham Bryan College

Ruth Gregory reports.. Askham Bryan College, held it’s second and final event last weekend across Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of October. The event held solely national classes from BE80T to ON, but still attracted some familiar eventing celebrities, such as Willa Newton and Yorkshire based Nicola Wilson. The winner of the ON section N was Mollie Mills, and Fune D or M. The conbonation put in a foot perfect performance to finish on their dressage mark of 30.5. EVENT REPORTS – TWESLEDOWN (4)

Sarah Carless reports .. With four British Eventing fixtures throughout the year, the Hampshire venue finished the season with a flourish with nearly 400 entries over two days of competition. In wnning BE100 Section I Shari Buchart and Merengo V T Dauwhof collected their second win of the year in BE100 Section I. Having previously won at Stratford Hills in in June, they won on a score of 30. Their 2018 season has resulted in seven top ten placings. EVENT REPORTS – Weston Park

Sarah Carless reports.... Weston Park is always a popular end of season fixture on the British Eventing calendar. More than 500 entries were received for the action-packed weekend with David and Catherine Witt of Rookery Park Stud being the title sponsors for the event once again. One of the feature classes was the Blue Chip Central North West BE80(T) Challenge, which was designed to enhance the education of the BE80(T) competitor, attracting new competitors to British Eventing and providing grassroots within the region an exciting end to their season. EVENT REPORTS – Dauntsey (2)

With three days of competition at the Frank Knight Dauntsey Park Horse Trials, more than 550 competitors battled for top honours across classes ranging from BE90 to Open Intermediate. World Equestrian Games Team Gold medallist Gemma Tattersall won the big class of the event, come away victorious in the Charles Stanley Open Intermediate (Section C) with Quicklook V and taking home the £1,000 prize. Just seven weeks after Bishop Burton College held the prestigious FEI European Championships for Ponies, they transformed the event and course back to its grassroots courses ready for two days of eventing in their final fixture of the year, Bishop Burton (2). EVENT REPORTS – Moreton Morrell (2)

Kc Hains reports ... The final fixture of the year at Moreton Morrell was set to be a testing one thanks to the tail end of Storm Ali bringing with it wind and some much needed rain, presenting a challenge for all competitors. Despite the heavy rain the going was excellent throughout the two days of competition thanks to the around clock maintenance by course designer and builder Lloyd Hunt of LandS Eventing. EVENT REPORTS – Kelsall Hill

Ruth Gregory reports .. The hugely popular event at Kelsall Hill, hosted it final event of the season running from Friday to Sunday. The event saw mammoth entries of over one-thousand competitors, across BE80T to OI sections. The organisers, ran by Phil Latham and Jane Whitaker, worked tiredly to ensure; despite the challenging weather conditions, that the weekend lived up to expectations and that the Captain Mark Phillips designed course ran smoothly. South of England’s second fixture of 2018 attracted riders of all levels with grassroots competitors to riders returning from their recent success at the World Equestrian Games, with classes from BE100 up to CIC**. Elisabeth Halliday Sharpe and Cooley Moonshine won their second international competition of the year in topping London Capital & Finance CIC* (Section L). It was also their sixth win of the year, having not been out of the placings this season.
