EVENT REPORTS – Aske

Millie Wain reports….

Aske Horse Trials in North Yorkshire held classes ranging from BE90 to Intermediate level and there were over 375 entries across 18 sections.

Rebecca Patricia Baggs took first place in BE90 section J with Minstrels Quest. The pair was one of three combinations in the section to complete on their dressage score, which was 31.5 penalties. Second place went to Rebecca Mann and Ernie The Milkman with a score of 32.7 and in third place was Erika Sjostrom with GHF On The Button.

Section L of the BE90 was won by Jade Pitt riding Pallas Vank Wish, completing with a score of 31. The pair have had 5 top 10 placings this season and have picked up 289 foundation points together over 6 seasons. The top 5 combinations in the section all finished on their dressage score, with just 3.3 penalties separating them. Second place went to Amber Williamson riding Kilcrona Boy and John Guy came third with The Usual Suspects.

Rio Scott had a convincing win with Miss Demeanour IV in BE90 section N. They led the dressage with 25.5 penalties and despite adding 4 faults in the showjumping and 1.2 cross country time penalties, they held onto their lead to take the top spot, being nearly 7 penalties ahead of the rest of the section. In second place was Amanda Walker with Justin Thyme IV and in third place were Lizzie Lucas and Samthan Sure Thing.

The winners of BE100 section O were Jamie Atkinson and Cooley Empire, taking the win with 4 penalties in hand. They added nothing to their dressage score of 26.8 penalties. This was only Cooley Empire’s second event, after getting a 5th place at Belsay in June.

Samantha Jimmison and Upsalls Lorna got an excellent dressage score of 20.5 and added nothing to that to come first in BE100 section P. In second place was Nicola Wilson riding Levitate, who finished with 24.3 penalties.

Nicola Wilson had a very successful weekend at Aske. On her Facebook page, Nicola Wilson Eventing, she posted:

“At Aske this weekend ‘JL Dublin’ owned by Deirdre Johnston and James and Jo Lambert won his Open Intermediate with ‘Beltane Queen’ owned by Ann and Val Robson hot on his heels in 2nd. A fantastic result for these two horses who have not run for a couple of months. ‘For You’ and ‘Chabadu’ both picked up 2nd places in their Novice sections as did ‘Levitate’ and ‘PRF Spartikiss’ in the 100

A special mention for ‘Always Archie’ my homebred horse who did his first 100 class and won again this weekend.

Big thank you to the hard working teams at both of theses events who are now facing different challenges with the lack of rain but have still managed to provide good conditions and courses for us.”

Intermediate section B was won by Bill Levett and Piltown Colours, who were the only pair in the whole of the intermediate class to add nothing to their dressage score. They won section B by 8.4 penalties, with Carole Dennis coming second riding Edison NJ.
