Moreton Morrell’s first competition of the year attracted a top class field, many with their upcoming horses for the BE100 and Novice classes.
Izzy Taylor, who currently sits third in the Top Riders League for 2021, added to her points Tally with a win in Novice Section A with Junior. Having finished a close second to Izzy Taylor in Novice Section A, Tom Grant went one better in Novice Section B with victory on Quintus Grandia Z. The third Novice class, Sectoon C, went to Brazil’s Marcia Carvalho Jorge and Royal Encounter.
KBIS Starburst is a new ride for Georgie Campbell this year, having been previously been ridden by Izzy Taylor. They got their partnership off to a winning start with victory in Open Novice Section D with a score of 22.8 – the lowest winning score of the event.
Caroline Harris and Pepper Poldark got their season off to a winning start in BE100 Section E whilst Alicia Hawker topped the standings with Princess in BE100 Section F and Alice Clarke ok the win with Little Bird in BE100 Section G.
Imogen Murray and Ilston Jester have had a stellar start to the year, with their results so far topped off with a win in BE100 Open Section H.
Moreton’s straightforward and flowing cross country course didn’t cause too many issue with 85% going clear in the BE100 classes and 90% going clear in the Novice. Fence 9 was the bogey fence at the lower level whilst issues were more spread out in the Novice, with fences 9, 14 and 16 having a share of the penalties incurred.
Competition will return to the Warwickshire venue on September 24 and 25.
