BE100 Section I was taken by Theo Funnell on Theodora – 27.30 Theos mum Sophie told Eventing Worldwide about the pair. “He has just turned 15 yrs old, he has been producing from scratch his horse ‘Theodora’ over the last year. She contested her first BE100 at Millfield yesterday, She did a sweet test of 27 and a fab double clear to finish on her dressage score and Win the class.”

BE100 Section J – Henrietta Ewell – Zaino – 31.30

John Tilley who finished in 3rd said “I am really pleased with another double clear and third for Ultimate Law at only his second start at BE100. Home bred by his owner Dr Sarah Townsend he has been hugely consistent since he started Eventing last season jumping double clears and gaining several regional final qualifications. Really looking forward to climbing the grades with him later in the season.”

BE100 Section L was won by Elena Flay – Haslemere Supreme – 31.30
Rachel Brown commented about her great time at her 1st BE100 here They were really chuffed with a dressage score of 28.5 as they have both worked hard to improve this, then a fabulous clear over a testing show jump course finishing with their favourite element, clear on the cross country exactly on the optimum time.

BE100 Open Section K – Tim Cheffings – Wishful Thinking VIII – 15.30, Tim, had the full high and lows of eventing this weekend, where on the Saturday he had 2 unplanned dismounts, one quite graceful dismount and the other unfortunate superman dive into the water, leaving both horse and rider requiring flippers, but came back on Sunday by winning this class on the lowest dressage score of the 2 days, and his other ride came 10th in that class.

BE80 Section E – Alice Hirst – Branchfield Galloway – 24.40

Charlotte Newey who was 2nd in an 80 section said “I was delighted with the performance of both of my horses as it’s only the second event of the season for them. They both went double clear inside the time finishing on their dressage scores one finishing 2nd and the other 8th in their sections. Millfield is a lovely event and having the support of my family and friends there together with the sun shining made it a really enjoyable day. The stewards were very well organised and encouraging which always helps everything to run a bit smoother. Special thanks must go to my coach Jo Roberts for her never ending support.”

BE80 Section F was won by Jasmin Edwardson – It Must Be Dandy – 25.70.

BE80 Section G – Heidi Couch – Westcombe Jake – 34.00

Heidi told us about her successful day “My boss Mrs Charlotte Hemsley did her 2nd 90 on one of our hunters , she was in section B and did a 32 double clear for 3rd place, qualifying for a Grassroots Regional Final, I was riding Westcombe Jake another of our hunters in the 80 section G , this is only my 2nd ever BE event, he did an average test for him getting 34 and then jumped a double clear, even though on the xc he very nearly got me off in the water, by jumping in, landing on all fours and going for another leap but I managed to get back in the saddle to finish, which led us to the win in that section. Millfield is a lovely run event and all the volunteers are very friendly and helpful.”

BE80(t) RF – Dr Rebecca Hamilton Fletcher who won on Smokin Gun with a 21.80
“We finished on our Dressage score of 21.8 – with the scores being agonisingly close at the top – and have therefore safely qualified for the Championships, at our first attempt. I have only really taken over the ride on Gunner since daughter, Bethany Puzio, started University in 2017. I used to compete before my career (as an equine vet) and motherhood took over – and it was gratifying to find that my competition gear still fitted when I dug it out of the cupboard!  With a combined age of 80, Gunner and I definitely flying the flag for the oldies! It’s been a good week by any standard; we did West Wilts BD on Thursday and won both Novice tests, plus Elementary 40, all on plus 71% marks. Gunner certainly belies his age and his small stature (14hh).”
BE90 Section A – Lisa Baker – Spirit of The Irish Clover – 29.50 She said “I still can’t believe we actually won, I am over the moon with Malibu. It’s our fifth season Eventing and we have been so close a few times but it’s never happened! Fortunately this time it all fell into place. I am very grateful to my family and trainers for supporting us, fingers crossed we maybe able to qualify for the Badminton Grassroots competition later this season.”

BE90 Section B – Maja Hullah – Corntown Tirpitz – 31.10, 2nd was Charlie Hemsley with Philippa Skelton in 3rd.

Sarah Jessup shared that her daughter Lily Jessup age 13 who was riding her new pony Woottonheath Private Ryan at Millfield BE90 section A on Saturday. They had a 31.3 dressage and a double clear with some xc time faults coming 8th place.  Lily is a member of Wylye Valley Pony Club.

BE90 Section C – Tess Townend – Cooley Done Deal – 28.80

BE90 Section M – Michelle Northmore – Fairways Lord of The Ring – 30.30

Annie Robertson – who was 6th at Millfield on my 7year old cob. “I brought him as 2 year old from a housing estate in Wales. I have been BE for 3 seasons, he has qualified for 2 RF this year. Would be our dream to get to badminton next year.”

BE90 Section N – Sarah Wharton – Ballyknock Kate – 28.80

Hannah Fitzpatrick came 2nd in the 90 at Millfield on Sunday riding Tara Kay’s Amandas. Hannah is most known for winning last year’s Silver Spur and is a keen Teamchaser. She had never had a flatwork lesson on Amandas before yesterday so was delighted with the joint lead dressage of 27.3. Following that with a double clear, it was only 2.8 time faults that took her out from winning the class.

BE90 Section O – Charlie Piper – Colwills Flint – 23.30

Karen Burner – Poppy (14) and her own Witchcombe Music Man (Red), competed at Millfield on Sunday finished 4th in the BE90 section O. “A really fab day, we competed at the Mitsubishi Motor Cup this year too! Red is amazing!”

BE90 Open Section D Gubby Leech on Honey IX – 30.50 the pair completed the event.

Thanks again to all involved with Millfield, the Organisers, Secretary and all volunteers, who without the event wouldn’t be so successful.
