Uniquely running from England through to Wales, Llanymynech Horse Trials runs classes from BE80(T) up to Novice for all of North Wales’ event riders and beyond. In total, there were 16 sections running throughout the two days.
The most impressive result of the weekend has to go to Wendy Mcgarry in the BE80(T) in Section A who didn’t only win but did it by 14.9 penalties. Wendy and Hugo Hunting scored an outstanding dressage score of 19.8 to go on to finish on this score. Camilla Hardie was the rider behind Wendy. Camilla and Kellythorpes Adonis G finished on 34.7.
There was only one section of Novice and one section of Open Novice. Novice Section L had 41 competitors and Robyn Gray and Litchfield Foxtrot beat them all. The combination finished on a great dressage score of 25.5 to leave them at the top of the board. Loretta Joynson and PSH Lets Tango finished just behind in 2nd place.
Katie Rucker placed 2nd and 3rd in the NU18 section. Katie was pipped to the post by Sophie Wilson and My Knockillaree Conquistador who won the section. Sophie added 0.4 reverse time penalties for going to fast to a dressage score of 31.4 to take home the red rosette. Katie came second on Dassett Zoolander after adding 4 jumping penalties to a dressage score of 30.3. She then came 3rd on Vlove D Or Ly, finishing on a score of 34.4.
Connie Warde Aldam won the BE100U18 section on Altaskin Merlin after finishing on an impressive dressage score of 28.8. Mia Ketcher and Lostock James Brown finished in second place, finishing on a dressage score of 33.8.
Elizabeth Thomas and Dream Dragon started their season off at Llanymynech and came home with a win in the BE100 in Section G. The combination had the best dressage of 26.5 and despite having 4 jumping faults they finished on top of the leaderboard. Sarah Warner wasn’t far behind on Zarento ZDL, they finished on their dressage score of 31.
Sally Chamberlain and Gido G had their first win of the season in the BE100, section H. They finished on their dressage score of 32.5 to win with almost 4 penalties to hand. Francesca Fitzherbert and MGH April finished in second after adding 4 jumping faults to a dressage score of 32.
There were some impressive scores in BE100 Section I with the top 5 all finishing with sub 30 scores. Sarah Mitchell finished on an impressive dressage score of 21.5 with Puzzel to take the win. Emma Rarity and Zummertimes were very closely behind in 2nd place after finishing on 22.
BE80(T) Section B was won by Holly Preece and Starfield Ziggy. They finished on their dressage score of 24.3. Deonne Edwards and Doyles Lady came second, finishing on 28.3.
It was very close at the top in BE80(T) Section C. Beatrice Hammond and Doe Bertie finished on their dressage score of 31.3 to win the section. Phili Pickard and Spencer V added 0.4 time faults to a dressage score of 31.5, leaving them in second place closely behind Beatrice.
BE90 section E saw Laura Ridout and Coolodge Sox take their first win of the season as a combination. They finished on their dressage score of 24.5, the best dressage score in large section of 42 competitors. Joanna Buswell and Dassett Dakota also finished on their dressage score of 26.5 to place 2nd.
Becky Hartley stormed BE90 Section O after placing 1st and 2nd. Becky won on Safira and came 2nd on Kilmullen Casino Hill. Her winning score was 22.5.
