Kirriemuir’s first British Eventing fixture of the 2018 calendar was well supported by riders north of the border. Across the classes, which ranged from BE80(T) to Novice, there were more than 200 entries.
Having scored 23.5 penalties in the dressage, even six-time faults on the cross country could not hold Lynn Clark from taking victory in BE80(T) Section J with Silver Dream Catcher. The other BE80(T) class – Section I was won by Kelly Reid on Clover I.
Giorgia Burns took victory in BE90 Section A with Ferro Star. The pair scored 23.0 in the dressage and added just 2.4 time penalties from the cross country. This still gave them a winning margin of 4.9 penalties.
Wills Oaken had a one-two in Novice Section G. He won on board Grey Stone rising star. Finishing on their dressage score of 30.8 the pair had a winning margin of 9.3 penalties. He finished second on Flippinlucky and also finished fourth in the section on Macgregors Cooley, seventh on Tayvale Georgiana and ninth on Tayvale Hunky Dory.
Daisy Cross was another rider to dominate their section. She come our victorious in Open Novice Under 18 Section H with Bridgepark Cottage Lady on a score of 35.8. She also finished second with Commachero.
The second of Kirriemuir’s affiliated competitions will be held on July 8 with classes ranging from BE80(T) to Novice including qualifiers for the Four and Five Year Old Championships at Osberton.
