The Fairfax and Favour Rockingham International horse trials hosted four days of spectacular eventing with CIC*, CIC**and national classes ranging from BE100 up to Advanced Intermediate.
Jonty Evans and Cooley Rorkes Drift came back fighting after their disappointing Badminton result to win the Advanced Intermediate section. Jonty also won a Robert Loome’s handmade watch for being the highest placed rider closest to the optimum time from the open and advanced intermediate sections. Jonty and Cooley Rorkes Drift finished one second under the optimum time, finishing on a dressage score of 24.9.
Kristina Hall-Jackson and Slaney Cruise were the only other combination to finish inside the time in the Advanced Intermediate Section, leaving them on a dressage score of 31.3 and in 3rd position.
Piggy French followed on from her success last weekend at Chatsworth International with another cracking few days of eventing. Piggy won the CIC** Section D riding Castletown Clover and came 2nd in the CIC** Section C with Cooley Monsoon. Piggy also won Intermediate Section O and came 2nd in CIC* Section B.
James Avery and Vitali were the winner of CIC** Section D after being only one second over the optimum time across country and adding 0.4 time penalties to dressage score of 26.3.
Young Rider Bubby Upton also had a good weekend, she rode Cannavaro and Cola III to 4th and 5th in the CIC** and then won the OIU21 on board Mexican Wave by over 9 penalties. Bubby went double clear on all three of her rides at Rockingham Castle.
Elicia Miller and A Sunny Bay took 2nd place in the OIU21 class, sponsored by Askham Bryan. Elicia added 4 show jumping penalties and 3.2 cross country time penalties to a dressage score of 33, leaving them on an overall score of 40.2.
The ONU18 section had only 15 competitors however, Zoe Embury and Orlando beat everyone to take their place on the top of the leader board. The combination scored a dressage score of 26.3 and added only 2 time penalties. Annabel Carthy and Painted Moon II came 2nd and were the only combination who didn’t add any time penalties.
Isabel Mceuen and Kursk Root started off their season brilliantly by winning Novice Section T. They were the only combination to finish on their dressage score of 29.5 leaving them 5 penalties ahead of 2nd placed rider Kevin Mcnab and Brookfield Benjamin Bounce.
The Open Novice was won by Andrea Clark and Murphys Bonanza, their first win of the season. The pair only added 2 time penalties to a dressage score of 27, leaving them at the top of the leader board and taking home the prizes.
Alyson Parker was the winner of BE100 Section G finishing on a dressage score of 22 with J J Malone. Ben Way and Utrecht II were hot on their heels however, finishing on a dressage score of 23.8. There was no room for error for Alyson however the pair kept their cool and managed to finish on their dressage score, retaining their position at the top of the scoring.
Young Rider, Charlotte Bacon won BE100 Section E with Cosmos Du Figuier finishing on a dressage score of 26.8. Charlotte also finished in 3rd position in the OIU21 with Cooley Enno.
