Georgia Dixon reports….

Whilst most of us were at home eating chocolate, there were some brave riders who made the journey to DSC00216Eland Lodge this Easter weekend for the venues first British Eventing fixture of the year. Sections ran from BE90 up to Novice, incorporating the U18 sections at 100 and novice level.

17-year-old Timoney Orritt and her 14hh pony Backley Rolo had their first win of the season at the weekend in the BE90 section O, despite going a bit on the speedy side cross country.

The pair lead from the beginning after scoring a 27.5 dressage. Timoney then steered Backley Rolo to victory by only adding 1.2 time faults too fast during the cross country phase.

Timoney said: “We’ve had him nearly eight years when I was nine and he was five so we’ve learnt everything together with the help of some amazing instructors. Hopefully we would like to do some BE100’s now, and it’d be lovely to qualify for Grassroots again, but we will have to wait and see!”

Another young rider ended at the top of the leader board in BE90 Section C. Ellie Ormrod and Pickhill Dancer won the section on their dressage score of 25, the best dressage score of that section. Nicola Nelson and Commander Of The Fleet weren’t far behind also finishing on their dressage score of 25.3.

The stars of the BE90 sections have to be Francesca Fitzherbert and MGH April who won Section A and finished on their dressage score of 19.8! Francesca also came 2nd in Section B on Monbeg Eclipse.

Alex Hua Tian stormed the lead in Section E of the BE100 classes with San Miguel III, they finished on a dressage score of 21.3, 4.7 penalties ahead of Robyn Gray and Litchfield Foxtrot in 2nd

Harry Harding came out on top of Section F with Goteus S after getting a 20.5 dressage and adding only 0.4 time faults too fast on the cross country course, leaving them on 20.9. Andrew Downes and Castlekelly Todd came 2nd with a final score of 27.

Section I saw Franky Reid-Warrilow and Dolley Phantom take the win on an impressive score of 21.5. Morjoy Lady Darna and William Scott came second after finishing on their dressage score of 24.8.

The BE100Open section saw another first win of the season for Margaret Whalley and Elarieta. Chloe Pearson came 2nd with Garryduff Chacoa, finishing on their dressage score of 30.
