EVENT REPORTS – Dauntsey Park

Dauntsey Park Horse Trials (1) – based at Brook Farm in Wiltshire, with thanks to organisers Beanie Sturgis and Judie Simmonds, and event secretary Ann Allen.

As standard, a fantasticbold galloping course with two river crossings. All jumps over natural features. The event was held over 16th and 17th July 2019 and had classes ranging from BE90 to IN – incorporating a 4 year old and 5 year old class.

The event is well known to attract some of the best pro riders and is a favourite for amateurs who are looking to test themselves before stepping up a level.

The 4 YO class was won by Louisa Lockwood on Kublesco with 33.30. Louisa also came 3rd in the BE100 open on Dowtown Billy, next stop for Louisa is Aston le Walls (3)

In 2nd place was Max Warburton on Lucky Jo Jo and 3rd was Gemma Gurvidi on Hildare Prince.

5 YO Section J won by Dannie Morgan on Vanessa with 24.60, 2nd place went to Dani Evans and 3rd to Kitty King on Monbeg Hendricks.

5 YO Section K taken by Amelia Walker with Harbouring on a 25.00, 2nd place was Caroline Harris on D.Day, 3rd was Vicky Tufts.

3 very successful sections of young horses seen.

Eventing Worldwides sponsored rider Charlotte Rowe had 3 horses complete the event with a 4th, 5th and 8th Harry coming 4th in the IN which was a PB for his dressage, Charlotte said she was over the moon for his owners who have kept the faith in him, he struggles to relax but he is definitely going in the right direction.

BE100 Section F Tom McEwen won on Invictus II with 29.30. Tom had 8 horses at the event! With 5 placings in the top 10, certainly a busy day for all involved with this team. In fact all his horses were in the top 20 finishing table.

BE100 Section H winner Izzy Taylor with Romantic 26.80 Izzy had a 1st and 2nd in this section with Romantic and Hathaway Whole Lotta Love, Izzy also came 1st in Section I and had an 8th place on her 4th ride, this was a warm up for Izzy who followed this event with 12 entered at ALW (3)

BE 90 Section A winner Heidi Ford with the mare Contessa III finished on 24.30. Heidi led from start to finish in this section, she said that it was the toughest course they have ever done but super pleased as she went clear inside the time. Contessa now has her first RF for the MMC in 2021.

BE90 Open section D1 – Bruce Haskell Oppenheim 29.50
Bruce won this section on his Gelding – Bruce said on Facebook “Thank you to team Beanie, love Dauntsey, great team, great event and always a decent, testing but fair XC!” We look forward to following this pairs journey.

ON – Section P – Yasmin O-Sanderson Headsnook Mischief 26.80
Yasmin said on her Facebook that she was super pleased and had a successful day with the win, she also had a 3rd place on Inchello DHI in one of the Novice Sections with a lead in the dressage with 19.5.

We look forward to reporting on Dauntsey (2) in October 2019.
