Sarah Carless reports….

Chilham Castle’s first British Eventing fixture of 2017 attracted a stellar line up of entries with classes ranging from BE80(T) to Open Novice.

Daniel May took a second win this season with Just The Thing in BE100 Open Section L. On this occasion the pair finished on their dressage score of 22.5. Daniel took over the ride just over a year ago whilst his boss Paul Wedge followed other sporting pursuits.

His previous win came at Portman.

Daniel told Eventing Worldwide: “Eventing had always been a dream of mine as going fast is what I love. Having a second win in my first year is simply amazing. The horse loves it. He gives such confidence going round and I’m looking forward to going novice now. I can’t thank Paul and Bryony Holloway, my trainer enough. I couldn’t have done any of this without their support and guidance. I’m looking forward to our season ahead.”I60B0238

Fourteen-year-old Georgia Thomson rode Tara VIII to vicrory in BE100 Under 18 Section K, finishing on a dressage score of 29.0. Of her win Georgia commented: “It feels great to win at such a beautiful and well run event. I’ve had Finn for a year now and we are going to be moving up to novice shortly. His performance at Chilham Castle proved to me that we both are ready for that.”

In BE100 Section J she was victorious with Ramiros Bounty, finishing on their dressage score of 25.8, whilst she piloted Lordana VH Leysehof Z to victory in Novice Section O, adding just 0.4 time faults to their dressage score of 29.3 to finish on 29.7.
