EVENT REPORTS – Burnham Market

Burnham Market held one day of competition with classes ranging from BE80(T) to Novice and the event attracted over 250 entries across 11 sections. Burnham Market’s second event on the BE calendar was part of the Tri-Star Saracen Horse Feeds grassroots and Fairfax Saddles Novice leagues .

There was one Airowear BE80(T) section and the winner was Caroline Day riding the 4 year old Bellagio 99. The pair finished on their dressage score of 28 penalties to finish 4 penalties ahead of the rest of the section. This was Bellagio 99’s second event; the pair finished 3rd in the 4 year old class at Keysoe two weeks ago. The top two combinations in section K were the only ones to add nothing to their dressage scores and second place went to Jordan Keal and Irish Warrior. Caroline also took the top spot in BE100 section B riding I Fabergas Boy on a score of 27.5.

It was a convincing win for the combination of Wade Barley and Waking Elwood in BE90 section H. They finished on their dressage score of 23.5 to be 7 penalties ahead of second place, which went to Franchessca Jackson aboard Branchfield Carrow. There were just 0.3 penalties separating 2nd-5th place and all of the top 12 combinations jumped two clear jumping rounds.

Samantha Hobbs was another rider to get two wins at Burnham Market. One was in BE100 section A aboard the 6 year old Autograf. The pair completed on their dressage score of 27 penalties. Samantha’s next win was with Lime Rickey in novice section D, completing with a score of 36.1 penalties.

There were 17 starters in the Open Novice section F and all cross country starters completed with clear rounds. The winner of this section was Jane Buchan riding the 12 year old gelding Carleton with a score of 23.1 penalties. The pair was 4 penalties ahead of the rest of the section after the first phase and held onto their lead, being just 2 seconds over the cross country optimum time of 4 minutes and 38 seconds.
