A closely fought competition saw the Charles Owen British Pony Team collect the team silver medal at the 2016 FEI Pony European Championships for Eventing in Vilhelmsborg (Denmark).

France took team bronze position on the podium will final score of 161.9, despite dropping to three riders after one of their team suffered a fall on the cross country. In addition to their team medals, Germany took individual gold and silver medals, whilst Belgium claimed individual bronze.
The highest placed British team member was British Pony Champion Saffron Cresswell and Cuffesgrange Little Ric, who were also part of the British Pony Team who won gold in 2015, in fifth position.
Anya Kolleth Drop the Subject finished in eighth position, Eloise Carter and Alfie XI finished in 14th and Molly Faulkner and Sycamore Lad finished in 28th. Connie Warde-Aldam was the highest placed individual rider of the competition, riding Miss Eloise Carter’s 15-year-old gelding Craig Mor Tom into 10th place.
Chairman of Pony Squad Selectors Gary Parsonage commented: “It was a fabulous week of competition resulting in a very well deserved team silver. It was a really harmonious and tightly bonded team effort throughout which gave every rider the opportunity to achieve personal bests every day. The show jumping was very tense and exciting with the British girls holding their nerve to climb from bronze overnight to a final silver medal. Having the very last fence down, Saffron Cresswell was very unlucky not to finish in bronze medal position after having been in third place individually after the dressage and cross country phases.”
