Yipppiiieee I’m super excited to announce that I’ve been selected for Team GB to head out to the Young Rider European Championships, in Poland!! I have been selected on Michelle Clough and Zara Porterhill’s Loxley (aka Fozzle), who’s had a fantastic season winning two of the Young Rider European Trials and finishing 6th in the Young Rider National Championships. With me being 19, it’s my first year of being a Young Rider – as opposed to a Junior… so I’m very excited to experience the next level up of Championships. I’ve spent the past two days at Kyra Kyrklund’s having some final dressage training with herself and her partner Richard… brushing up the final little things and getting Foz and I to try and dance like Charlotte and Velegro! We’re currently travelling from Kyra’s to Dover, where we will be spending the next three days at Team GB final training… then Foz and Emma begin their three day journey out to Poland on Saturday morning, with us riders then flying out to join them at Strzegom on Monday! All very, very exciting!!
I’m very lucky to have had a great start to the Autumn season, especially with Dre – my lovely, cool and IMG_0980
talented 7 year old, who’s won the IN at Chepstow, the IN at Barbury Castle and the Intermediate at Wilton Park… I’m so please with how he’s coming along and very excited for his future. He will being aiming for Osberton CIC** 7 Year Old Champs, or Le Lions D’angers 7 Year Old World Champs. Brook has been feeling very well since Bramham CCI***… he competed at Aston Le Walls last month in the OIu21 where he finished 3rd, which was a prep run for the British Open Champs at Gatcombe a few weeks later. But unfortunately after a good test at Gatcombe, I decided not to run him cross country due to the ground conditions being very firm and it was just not worth risking an injury. He will have a few runs this Autumn at Gatcombe, Ballendenisk and Little Downham before heading out to Pau for our fist CCI**** !!! Charlie finished 2nd in the OIu21 at Aston Le Walls last week, which was a great result for him and his owner Lord Patrick Beresford… he will aim for the CIC*** 7 & 8 year old class at Blenheim Palace, in just over a months time.
I’m very lucky to have been purchased two new rides – one being the lovely Cooley Currency, who came from Richard Sheane in Ireland. He’s a beautiful and talented 7 year old, who’s competed up to CCI* and is now ready to step on up to Intermediate and **… a very exciting horse to have in the yard for the future. Also a new owner, being Marcus Craggs has come on board and very kindly purchased the smart King’s Lancer – a lovely 5 year old, grey, gelding from Holland. Lance has only showjumped in Holland, so it’s great having him with a completely clean canvas and training him right from the beginning.
So all very exciting time’s ahead! But the main focus at the moment is the Young Rider European IMG_0973Champs next week… so everything crossed that Foz and I perform as well as we can, and that we come home with some bling around our necks!!
Em x
