DHL PRESENTS CCI**** INGRID KLIMKE IN THE LEAD AFTER CROSS COUNTRY

With an amazing clear round within the optimum time Ingrid Klimke (GER) moves into first place staying on her dressage result of 32.70. In places two and three follow Jonelle Price (NZL) (32.80) and Michael Jung (GER) on La Biosthetique Sam FBW (34.2).

Straight after her fantastic cross country round Ingrid Klimke was full of praise for her mare FRH Escada JS: “I am so happy, she was super fit and gave me a wonderful round. The course rode brilliantly, the ground was perfectly prepared and the audience was really supportive. However, the course was technically challenging, especially the different water complexes and the Ariat combination towards the end asked for heightened concentration. Escada was unbelievable though: motivated and amazing to ride. She has a big jump in her and is very clever. She can solve even difficult questions almost effortlessly.”

There is only very little between the leading three riders’ scores and the final show jumping should be exciting. But Klimke is not too worried about it as she knows her mare can give her a clear round tomorrow. “Escada is a good jumper and she has been great in training. My trainer Kurt Gravemeier promised he would come down here for the show jumping providing I was in the top three, I told him to fill up his car!”

Jonelle Price too was over the moon with the performance of her little mare Faerie Dianimo: “Today she rode like a proper four star horse! She was amazing, she flew round the course, she is truly exceptional. I have never had a horse like her before, she can do amazing things in all three disciplines. At home she is a little diva and her stable name is Princess, but it was worth putting in all the hard work to get her on my side. When I rode her in Pau she was still a little green, but she has grown a lot and her performance here has been tremendous. I really can’t ask for more. If I do my job well tomorrow, then anything is possible.”

Less than two points behind the two ladies is Michael Jung: “La Biosthetique Sam is super fit and rode perfectly all the way round the course. He listened to me right from the start and we had a lot of fun out there. It was a great round under perfect conditions.”

Reactions of the riders straight after the cross – interviews at the finish

Michael Jung: “The conditions were perfect. Sam is super fit and we had a lot of fun. Everything worked for us. He was amazing and listened to me all the way round. He knew instinctively what I was asking of him. He felt like he could have done this course three more times. Amazing!”

Julien Despotin: “My horse lost a shoe between jumps 13 and 14 which caused us to slip a little round the corners and slowed us down a bit. Waldano was brilliant nevertheless and I truly enjoyed the round.”

Claas Hermann Romeike: “Jumping through the Meßmer pond was a little hairy but apart from that Cato was great. He is an amazing cross country horse and he loves big jumps. This was our first four star course and everything went exceptionally well, I feel very proud.”

Mark Todd: “I had so much fun today! My horse was just cruising around the course. There wasn’t a single hairy moment, it was simply amazing. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, show jumping should be great.”
