Following taking fifth place at Boekelo in the Nations Cup competition last weekend, Dani Evans and Luana Edge’s grey gelding Smart Time leapt to the top of the 2015 Britannia League, winning this year’s title on 170 points. Not to be outdone, Smart Time’s stable mate Raphael III owned by Vanessa Watson also had success in the League taking third place on 148 points.
Flora Harris who had led the League table ahead of Boekelo finished the series in second place with Caroline Harris and Rebecca Salt’s Bayano on 150 points.
Flora and Dani were both selected for the Longines FEI European Championships at Blair Castle but both faced unfortunate set-backs which meant they couldn’t represent their country.
Dani receives a £5,000 bursary and a Fairfax saddle of her choice for leading the 2015 Fairfax Britannia League. She commented on winning the title: “I genuinely couldn’t be happier for both of my Owners that their horses are both in the top three of this amazing League; both of them have been such long standing supporters. I am especially over the moon for Luana Edge that Smart Time has been recognised for his talent after our disappointment at Blair.”
“I also want to say a massive thank you to Fairfax Saddles and Nigella Hall for so generously supporting this League, it’s wonderful to have something to aim for that recognises the strength of up and coming British riders.”
Vanessa Fairfax from Fairfax Saddles said of their sponsorship of the League: “We are so happy that two such deserving riders have taken this title in our first year of sponsorship of the League. We are a truly British company at heart and are very excited to support young British talent on the road to the top.”
Eventing Performance Manager Yogi Breisner commented: “Through creating and supporting this League series, Nigella Hall and Fairfax Saddles are directly supporting young British riders on their way to becoming team riders of the future.
“I am delighted for Dani who thoroughly deserves this success with both Smart Time and Raphael II following great form throughout the season. Flora and Bayano also very much deserve their prize especially after their recent success at Blenheim Palace.”

About the Britannia League
Longstanding BE supporter and Event Horse Owner Nigella Hall developed the League with BE in 2014 to give British riders who haven’t represented Britain at FEI European Championships, World Equestrian Games or Olympic Games a substantial reward to target each season.
Points for the League are accrued at CIC3* and CCI3* events in Great Britain as well as at all FEI Nations Cup competitions.
Nigella continues to contribute to the League in terms of funding as well as providing the Owner of the leading horse with a beautiful bronze trophy to be awarded at the end of the 2015 season.
The inaugural Future Talent 2* League winners will be announced following Aldon International Horse Trials.
