Dalkeith impressed competitors with improvements being made from previous years for their first 2015 event. The Edinburgh based event held in Dalkeith Country Park saw the cross country extended out of the previous field it had been held in and the dressage was held in front of the house in Dalkeith Park to give some fantastic photo opportunities. The BE80 and BE90 had a lot of shared cross country fences with the BE100 being up to height and maximum course length with tricky combinations which caused some issues.

The best completing score of the day came from Lucinda Crawford and Turbo Toy in the Open Novice Under 18 who completed on their dressage score of 20. Crawford took on the ride of Turbo Toy for this season and the 15 year old pint sized 15hh gelding is certainly proving himself producing his second win of the season and fourth consecutive top 2 placings with not a single dressage score higher than 26.8.

In the Novice sections notable performances were produced by Kirsty Brewis and Harbour Lights in section G. The pair lead the way from the dressage with a clear 5 point lead after finishing on a 23.8 dressage score and went on to maintain a clear sheet to take the win. Brewis has had the ride on Harbour Lights since 2008 when she was competing in the then Pre Novice and the pair have accumulated 81 BE points.

Six year old MGH Maccabee took his first win of his BE career in the BE100 section J. After making the move up to BE100 mid 2014 with mixed results the gelding by Puissance produced a 25.5 double clear for owner/rider Lucy Harley. Alexandra Meikle and Damdeasy followed just four points behind completing on their dressage score of 29.5 with a confident run after winning at Burgham International in March.

The BE100 Under 18 section was won by Katie Anderson and Cooldrumman Mist. The 8 year old 15hh gelding took the win by just three points with Rachel Hamilton and Shannondale Somax following closely behind.

The BE90 sections saw a strong field compete for the top placings with double clears ten a penny. Gillian Bassett and Rainton Woodlander produced their best dressage score of their BE career with a 22 double clear to win. A masterclass in running at BE90 was also given by Greenburn Sunrise and Joanne Moses who have a total of 108 BE Foundation Points and took the win in section Q.

The BE80 (T) saw three sections running with sub 30 scores taking the win in all sections. Kirstin Bamford and Geffory made their BE debut as a pair with the 5 year old 15.2hh gelding taking the win on a 22.5 double clear.
