Applications are now open for combinations hoping to be selected for the 2017 Senior CIC2* European Championship team,
The CIC2* Championships, will next year take place in Belgium, brings together amateur riders from across Europe for the chance to compete in a unique eventing format in an international championship.
Britain has enjoyed great success at the competition in recent years including bringing home the team silver and individual gold medal in 2015 from Helvoit in the Netherlands.
Potential squad members will need to apply to be registered onto the CIC2* Programme, where British selectors will then use both national and international competitions to view prospective combinations.
To be eligible for the championships horses and riders must fit the following criteria;
- The rider or the horse must not have completed a CCI3* or a CCIO3* in the two years prior to the championship unless this was as a Junior or Young Rider
- The rider or the horse must not have completed a CCI4*, a European or World Championship or Olympic Games at any time
These championships , formerly known as the Rural Riders European Championship, carry a unique format in the form of having six members in the team, rather than the usual four, and the inclusion of a ‘team dressage’ phase. Britain first competed in the championship in 1991 and until this year it was managed by British Riding Clubs when the squad became managed by British Eventing.
Any rider who thinks that they may be qualified for squad selection can register an interest here or discuss their situation with Chairman of Selectors, Peter Buist (firstname.lastname@example.org or 07802 688939).
