BE Calendar loses Burgham (1)

Burgham Horse Trials will only run its international event in 2018.
After careful consideration, the organisers have decided Burgham (1), which usually takes place at the end of March, will no longer run.
After the cancellation of the March event in 2017, which was the first in the event’s history, organisers felt it was in the event’s best interest to focus solely on the July event. This will continue to run, provisionally taking place from Thursday 26th – Sunday 29th July 2018.
Event Director Martyn Johnson commented: “It’s sad to have made this decision but I really feel comfortable now it is the best thing for the event to focus completely on July. We were compromised by the weather last March and could not produce the going that we strive to produce for competitors. It’s a real credit to my team and the Hogg family, who are fantastically supportive landowners, that the July 2017 event produced the best ground and event we have run to date, with over 500 entries across the eventing weekend and nearly 250 CIC1*, CIC2* and CIC3* entries alongside BYEH and British Show Jumping. Massive thanks to the riders and owners who travel north to Northumberland to support the event. We plan to make July 2018 even better.”
Burgham International Horse Trials will run FEI CIC1*, CIC2*, CIC3*, BE Open Intermediate, Novice, BE100 and BE90 classes with competition provisionally scheduled for Thursday 26th – Sunday 29th July 2018.
