British Eventing is seeking to secure a sponsor for Britain’s CIC2* European Championship Team in the count-down to the 2017 CIC2* European Championship.
The biennial CIC2* European Championships have evolved from being a competition created for riders from countries who were not considered to have strong contenders for top level competition such as the Olympics, World Equestrian Games or FEI Senior European Championships. However, the growing popularity of this competition means it is now recognised by GB selectors as an important team opportunity. Britain currently hold team silver and individual gold medal titles.
BE Accredited Coach and GB CIC2* European Team trainer Jonathan Chapman commented: “This is a fantastic chance for a brand to support up and coming riders outside of the GB Young Rider programme age bracket, as well as those who have started competing later in life a chance to aim for team selection and compete on the European stage. The team has been the launch pad for many international careers, including Antoinette McKeown, Jodie Amos, Matt Heath, Ros Canter and myself, as well as last year Franky Reid-Warrilow, who won the individual gold medal.”
During 2016 and 2017, British CIC2* Championship Team selectors will be keeping a watchful eye out for prospective team members at both National and International level to represent GB at next year’s European Championship competition, which will be held in Belgium.
