The Event Riders Masters has kicked off and Day 2 at Bramham Park has seen all of the dressage scores in every section up on the scoreboard ahead of the cross country and show jumping phases that are taking place in the next two days.
There are two dressage scores in the CIC*** Event Riders Masters that are under 40. Clark Montgomery and Loughan Glen are currently topping the scoreboard on 36.5 with Bill Levett and Shannondale Titan hot on their heels in second place on 39. Local girl Nicola Wilson and Pippa Funnell are the best placed Brits after the dressage phase as they finish up after day one in 6th place, both on a score of 42.3. They make up 2 of the 4 British Riders who have attained a top 10 placing after the dressage phase, the other two being Izzy Taylor in joint 8th and Rosalind Canter who is currently placed in 10th riding Allstar B.
Oliver Townend has taken the overnight lead from Sammi Birch in the CCI***. Ollie and MHS King Joules are currently sitting marginally ahead on a score of 37.9. Australian Rider Sammi Birch has got two horses lying in the top 3, currently being second on Hunter Valley II and joint 3 on The Court Jester with the same dressage score as Nicola Wilson and Bulana – 40.4. The top 10 is very close after the dressage, with there only being 6.3 penalties between first placed rider Oliver Townend and 10th placed rider Caroline Powell – All still to play for with the cross country phase tomorrow.
The latter riders in the CCI3* U25 class have dominated the top of the leaderboard, with the last few riders taking up top spots after the dressage. Tom McEwan who was third to go from the end finished in top spot on 40.4 on Toledo De Kerser. Emily King who was also one of the later riders to do their dressage test finished in 2nd place with Charlemagne on 43.9. Bert Bolton and Purple Sands are currently lying in 3rd on 46.6 and the last rider of the day Sam Ecroyd pinched 4th spot with Wodan II 47.3.
Tomorrow will see the Event Riders Masters take on the show jumping and cross country phases of the competition as well as cross country action from the Bishop Burton College Under 25 Class, The British Equestrian Trade Association CIC3* and the Equi-Trek CCI3*. On top of all of this, there will be top class Show Jumping going on in the Equi-Trek Arena and the TopSpec Arena, including the Suregrow Fertiliser Six Bar class at 4:30pm.
