BE Winter Training competition dates for the diary

The British Eventing winter season begins again in January 2016 with the return of both of the Baileys sponsored winter training competition series: Jump Training (JT) and Jumping and Style (JAS).

Following a successful first ‘combined’ Championship weekend at Hartpury in February this year where the JT finale took place on the Saturday and the JAS on the Sunday, British Eventing and Baileys are delighted to announce that this format will be repeated for 2016 along with a special guest appearance.

What is Jump Training?
Jump Training offers Members and non-Members the unique opportunity to show jump in a competitive environment under the expert guidance of two BE Accredited Coaches. Courses are held at 80cm, 90cm and 1m level.

The three phases of the competition are:

  • Phase 1 involves a course walk in small groups with a BE Accredited Coach
  • Phase 2 is where riders receive a guided warming up session with the BE Accredited Coach
  • Phase 3 the first part of the competition, whereby riders jump one round
  • Phase 4 riders get feedback from another BE Accredited Coach
  • Phase 5 combinations get to jump again taking on board the feedback from their first round

JAS explained

Competitors use this indoor cross country and show jumping ‘arena event’ to get their competitive edge before the season starts. Classes are open to BE Members as well as non-Members and are held at BE90 (90cm), BE100 (1m), Novice (1.10m) and Open (1. 15m) levels; each JAS Event is judged by a BE Accredited Coach and a BS judge.

You and your horse will be judged on style as well as technique and jumping penalties; the style mark is then converted to penalty points and added to any cross country or jumping penalties for the final score and the lowest score wins.

Coaches and judges for each competition will be confirmed in November.
