British Eventing has shared details of the events that have applied to replace Belton International Horse Trials for 2020 and beyond.
The British Eventing Fixtures Team opened an application process and organisers were invited to express their interest in applying for the available fixture. At the end of the 14 day application window, the following organisers and venues applied:
BEDE – Thoresby Park
BEDE – Revesby Park
BEDE – Carlton Towers
Janet Plant – Weston Park
Helen West – Bicton Arena
William Buck – Frickley Park
David and Robert Sayer – Great Witchingham
Following assessment of the applications from the list of venues above, the next step in the application process will see the Venue Assessment Panel (VAP) visiting selected venues. The VAP will be made up of Yogi Breisner, Former World Class Eventing Performance Manager Haskell, President of the Eventing Riders Association of Great Britain and Eventing Riders Association (International) and BE’s Acting Sport Manager Paul Graham.
Chris Farr, Sport Manager (Events), commented; “The Fixtures Team is delighted by the strong response to this application process. A robust, but open process is essential for the awarding of such high profile International fixtures, and careful consideration of many factors will be undertaken before a venue can be allocated this fixture.
“From this group of applications we will undoubtedly have a fantastic venue to replace Belton; however, with only one fixture during this week open for replacement, we fully appreciate there will be six venues disappointed at the conclusion of this process.”
Following the venue visits, the selected applicants will be invited to make a presentation to a Stakeholder Panel later this month. After this has taken place the successful venue and organising team will be announced.
An update on the application process for the replacement of Gatcombe (1) from 2020 will be published in due course.
