Australia to choose Rio Olympic team after staging camp

Equestrian Australia has announced that members of the eventing team will attend a staging camp before the final for the Olympic Games is made.

The Pre-Games staging camp will be held in the UK on July 24, from which the team of four horses and riders will be chosen.

However, the final eventing team is subject to the outcome of an appeal, and selections will only be announced by the Australian Olympic Committee at the conclusion of the appeals process.

The long list of horses and riders invited to attend the training camp are:

  • Samantha Birch – Hunter Valley II
  • Christopher Burton – Nobilis 18 and Santano II
  • Sam Griffiths – Paulank Brockagh
  • Sonja Johnson – Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison
  • William Levett – Alexander NJ and nd Improvise
  • Shane Rose – CP Qualified and Virgil
  • Paul Tapner – Prince Mayo
  • Stuart Tinney – Pluto Mio and Carlchen
