Congratulations to Angeline and Bailey who are this weeks winners of “The Prize Giving.
Angeline tells us about her fabulous horse Bailey, their win and that hard work always pays off in the end!
I bought Bailey around 2 and a half years ago as the first horse that I had ever owned and I initially bought him to compete at local shows and fun rides. Bailey is a cheeky chap on the ground and a typical stubborn gelding; he is a real dude to ride who loves his XC and jumping. Bails is 15.2 and around 12/13 years old with no real record of his breeding or age but we don’t mind about that as he is my super dude!
A year after owning him I started having lessons with Giles Carradine of Huntercombe horses. With Giles’s knowledge & experience he worked hard at helping us to improve on all three disciplines; continuing to help us work better as a team and achieve more and more each training session.
I had never even thought about getting involved in eventing but after seeing what you can achieve and how much fun it looked, I decided to give it a go. We only started eventing last year and it was great to meet so many new people and understand what eventing was all about. Our focus this year has been to improve our flatwork, so that we can have a real chance in getting placed and improving our scores. Giles has taught me so much and I now realise how important flatwork is in riding and I also think Bailey boy enjoys being a little dressage diva too.
With not having the best start to the season due to the cancellation of our first event, then a nasty fall at home meaning I had to withdraw from the next one, I never even dreamed of coming 1st in only my second event of the year. I have been on cloud nine since the weekend and over the moon to see what we have achieved, it’s great to see that our hard work is really paying off. I can not wait to start booking in more events and seeing where we end up this year!
Good luck for the rest of the season from all the EWW team!!
